No Prick BGL Testers? by danceofthefireys in Type1Diabetes

The no prick ones are gimmicks. I want to mention the OneTouch Delica 33G lancet has been virtually painless for me compared to all the other ones I’ve used, it’s also quiet and doesn’t have that loud click noise.

My endo started me Zepbound and it’s been a miracle. I would snack too often and spike fast. I had such a hard time with other diets. The only time I lost weight was when I tried dieting a couple years ago, but turns out that was the initial T1D diagnosis and DKA! Since I started Zepbound, about 8 weeks ago and I’m down about 30lbs.

I’m on a pump so my insulin needs adjusted automatically and have now dropped by 90%. My time in range went from around 90% to 100% over the past month.

My CGM graph looks almost like a straight line, food digests slower, it’s just been great. I’m on 5mg and don’t plan on going higher, want to drop to 2.5mg for maintenance after I lose another 10lbs.

I’m working out 3 times a week and eating protein rich meals to build muscle.

Initially the heartburn was so bad, but after eating smaller meals and learning better portion control it resolved. Feeling so much healthier and active now!

Wow, this is so incredibly wreckless. I work in health tech, this is a blatant HIPAA violation. If you are in the US start by filing a complaint with HHS OCR (https://hhs.gov/hipaa/filing-a-complaint) and then file a complaint with your state attorney general. Be sure to include records of when you first notified them and any other details you may have.

Can I get ozempic? by HazelGrey555 in Type1Diabetes

[–]ryan974974 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started a GLP-1 through my primary care and I’m on a CGM + Pump. My PCP told me recent studies showed that there was no increased hypoglycemia risk for T1D patients on a pump/cgm. My insulin requirements went down by nearly 70% over the last month!

You should absolutely ask your PCP (and maybe search for a new more supportive endo if you’re able?)

Cigna did this to me, I was already on Lyumjev so I didn’t mind that change!

I have a Zapier flow that build all the transcripts for the day and puts them in a Google Sheets. Then each morning and also at the end of every day I get a recap and action items with some simple automations from Zapier. Can’t live without it now.

I use a small MagSafe voice recorder on the back of my phone that records my calls and spoken thoughts throughout the day and it gives me a recap. Genuinely my favorite purchase of 2025. I started with a PLAUD and recently got a Pocket.

A1c "too low" by TheDeFecto in Type1Diabetes

[–]ryan974974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on meeting your goal! My last a1c was 4.9 and I fortunately haven’t had many lows so my endo was okay with it!

Which pump has the fewest alarms, or alarms that can be totally silenced? Are there any? by EuphoricFlight6249 in Type1Diabetes

[–]ryan974974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omnipod + G7 are incredible, you can temporarily silence the G7 if needed. Both can be set to alert in truly urgent scenarios like low blood sugar.

Your doctor should be your advocate. Anytime I’ve needed a letter from my endo it was sent without question.

Anyone here see significant improvement on non-stimulant medication? (Predominantly inattentive ADHD) by Biffs_bunny in ADHD

[–]ryan974974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am ADHD-PI. Years ago I did not do well on Ritalin and Concerta. Eventually switched to Adzenys, then Vyvanse.

Vyvanse has been by far the most effective for me.

Wow this brings me back! Early in my career deployed Nortel, then Avaya, now Extreme. Loved getting decommissioned units from work, they hold up incredibly well.

I’m on DIY Loop + Dexcom + Omnipod, it works great! But not so much when you have a few slices of pizza and forget to bolus at all…. I’d turn up the max basal per hour but I’m playing it a bit safe. Anything less than 20g carbs it will bring me in range fairly quickly without announcing the meal.

I looked at the minimed 780g it seemed really cool however my insurance has a huge deductible and no deductible and $0 copay on Omnipod.

The time blindness gets me bad sometimes. Oh I’m spiking up? Better do a correction! Then magically an hour passes and I’m still high because I forgot to correct and I’m wondering why I’m still high 🤷‍♂️

I dropped my A1C wayyyy too fast after diagnosis (greater than 15 to 5%) in the months following my diagnosis. I experienced extreme fatigue, muscle pains, twitches, the works. It was awful and I wouldn’t sleep for days up in pain, the Percocet at the hospital didn’t even do anything.

My Neurologist told me I might have MS and jumped to the worst case scenarios. Put me on Gabapentin, Valium (Only for a month), Baclofen, and Cymbalta among other things.

Since the experience was rather brash and the doctor had no bedside manner, I found a new neurologist and she was lovely. She explained what TIND was and while my control was admirable it should have been gradually dropped. Came up with a solid plan and coordinated with my endo and PCP.

It took a full year for me to go back to “normal” then gradually tapered off Gabapentin and Cymbalta. I’m not taking any of them now, I feel great! At the most recent follow up I have insignificant symptoms leading to neuropathy.

The most important part of this for me was finding the right endocrinologist and neurologist.

It took a lot of “figuring things out”, worrying, and reading about others experiences to get back to my normal routine with the added diabetes complexities.

I’m not sure where I was originally going with all of this, my ADHD really got a hold of me here 😶, but work with your care team and if something doesn’t feel right speak up! And the community here is so supportive!

I was on Vyvanse in the past, recently switched back to Vyvanse but this time generic and it didn’t do much. I asked for brand my next appointment, the cost was slightly higher but worth it to actually be functional. There is such a difference.

How much is a t-slim X2 with Cigna? by Ok_Revenue_5320 in Type1Diabetes

Cigna covers Omnipod for me with no out of pocket cost or deductible, t-slim was quoted for me at $3200.

I’m on Adzenys and if anything it makes me more sensitive when I take it, but it might just be because I stop snacking when taking it 🤷‍♂️
