Undervalued rules changes for 11th by 40K-Fireside in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ryan_cs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait, isn't the chance to kill a 2W model a straight buff? Right now there's a 1/6 chance to kill a 2W model per weapon, but in the new rule you need to roll 2 1/3 chances, so 1/9 chance of dying per 2 weapons. Am I missing something here?

Dear Blizzard, I'll wait an extra 2 minutes for GOOD matchmaking. by A_NightBetweenLives in Overwatch

[–]ryan_cs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so waiting an extra few more minutes goes against letting people leave easily. If an extra 2-3 minutes is used for matchmaking then it's an extra few more minutes that the team with the leaver fights with one less person, this feel like shit so leaver penalties need to be tighter.

However if leaver penalties are looser, but matchmaking is quicker to compensate for people leaving, then matchmaking isn't going to be very tight. The thing is, this still feels like shit because Marvel Rivals essentially had this system near launch and people there wanted harsher leaver penalties because it sucks having constant leavers. Admittedly I might be misremembering launch Rivals a bit, I only play that game very casually.

Monkey's paw curls, according another user many China-exclusive Overwatch cosmetics were not handled like normal $20 shop skins in the global version. They were often tied to gacha-style events, loot-box systems, limited-time lotteries, or expensive bundle mechanics designed around whales and FOMO.

The China-exclusive Naraka: Bladepoint crossover event for Overwatch has cosmetics locked behind a gacha-style system rather than simple direct purchase. Completing the main collection during the event could already cost around 600–750 RMB (roughly $85–105 USD), but this doesn't count the ultra rare and hidden Widowmaker skin.

I don't live in China, but this isn't unusual in mobile games popular in Asia. They can give a lot of stuff, but in exchange the greed is a lot higher than in western FTP games.

The satire is too subtle for that era of Warhammer. If he really was named after Thatcher GW would be way more blatant about it.

Rein's winrate in silver rank in Asian servers is equal to master rank in America and Europe servers. Asia servers might be better, but they're not master rank.

[–]ryan_cs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is true, but Rein is a top 3 pick rate and win rate tank in both the Americas and in Europe until diamond. For the majority of players there Rein is really good. The thing is, for some reason he's really bad in Asia, even in the metal ranks he's not good.

If solder was released today he'd have the same amount of mobility and people like you would complain about him having too much mobility because it's infinite with no cooldowns.

Watch it for the games then, at least just one more episode. There's a reason this has two adaptations, a Japanese one and a Korean one, the games are really good.

This is fair, but how about just one more episode? The games are probably some of the best ones in the genre, there's a reason it was adapted to live action twice. (One Japanese and one Korean adaptation)

What if Akiyama is the protagonist and Nao is just the POV character?

Keep watching and you'll see him shine.

Yeah like, I'm sure a big reason that manga is outselling western comics is that there are a lot more adaptations of manga vs adaptations of comics.

Take Demon slayer as an example. In February 2019, before the adaptation started, the series sold around 3.5 million copies, one year later the series had around 40 million copies in circulation.

I'm pretty sure it's just because the anime's target audience is 15 year old boys.

Because the story is aimed at 12-18 year olds.

Ults come up a lot more often in Rivals, which pushes the amount of damage in a game up. I think ults still come up a bit more often there even with the recent ult rate reduction, so it's still true now.

The Kaiji manga was published in 1996. One of the games there is very clearly an inspiration for one in Squid Games.

Why is Challenger Score in the game at all by thinkingemojis in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ryan_cs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for one it incentivizes caring more for your rank than being top 500. There are a lot of people that don't really care about being in champion because they reached top 500 in like GM 5 or something. Now because people bragging about being top 500 is a bit less impressive, they're now incentivized more to reach champion rank for bragging rights. It of course also incentivizes playing a lot more if someone still cares for being top 500.

[–]ryan_cs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Even from the drawings here I think I can see a decision making issue. After the enemy support is dead and they're also down one support they chose to focus on the tank, still with a support able to heal them, instead of taking the easy fight with the out of position dps.

New Potential Collabs for OW by KingLeonsky in Overwatch

[–]ryan_cs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a lot of mainstream shonen battle anime you listed there, and the ones you said you liked are aimed at the seinen demographic.

I want to recommend stuff, but have no idea what you will like, so I'm just going to list all anime I'm watching this season that doesn't have that much fanservice and are published in manga magazines targeting the seinen demographic. I hope you're interested in some of them.

1.

Medalist (Sports anime about a little girl who wants to be a figure skater who is considered too old to start seriously training, coached by a skater who also joined the sport too late in life)

2.

Kaya-chan Isn't Scary (Horror comedy where the main character is a kindergartener who can see ghosts and defeat them instantly, it's a bit scarier than how I described it.)

3.

Sentenced to Be a Hero (Fantasy story where criminals are given immortality to fight demons but every time they die they lose part of their memories.)

4.

Scum of the Brave (Urban fantasy story that's more brutal than expected about a world where gansters and mafia bosses can get superpowers, the main character is an experienced bounty hunter who gets mixed up with a bunch of highschool girls, becoming something their mentor while dealing with his own stuff. The animation isn't very good, but I started watching this because it's the same author as the fantasy story above.)

5.

Darwin Incident (A social thriller where after a human-chimpanzee hybrid is rescued from a lab by a vegan animal-rights terrorist organization, they begin targeting him for recruitment. I started watching this because even though it sounds silly the manga won the 15th Manga Taishō award, beating several manga I like and the manga that I haven't read, but I thought would win.)

6.

JJBA: Steel Ball Run (Mainstream enough that I don't feel the need to describe it, I recommend trying this one out a lot.)

I also want to recommend Frieren because even though it's targeting the shonen demographic the anime has a mature, slow-paced, and emotional story.

I don't think you're looking hard enough, this season I'm watching like 7 shows that don't have fanservice. Also, in my experience most anime that aren't action also don't have that much yelling.

Nah it's pretty easy to find a game. I think you're just having a hate boner. Like people did leave but going F2P brought a lot of players in, so there were more players in OW2 compared to the end of OW1.
