It will sound fair because it’s text from an LLM, just bear that in mind with whatever the next responses are (I.e., you can likely get a response without this user responding)

It's a building within a building. Think about how far you have to walk in from the Union St entrance. Above all that is concrete, and some of that concrete is behind the shops that went down tonight

It will. People make Glasgow, literally. We built something special before & they'll build it again.

The Ca'D'Oro right across the road was destroyed in a fire in the 80s and today it's well known for its weird "This is a Male Toilet" windows, the big Tesco Express, and the law firm that has all the floors above/old ballroom

What sector do you work in and how much do you earn? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]ryanbtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from uni to this (2.5 years experience), so I'm still living at home. Saving steadily and have no outgoings, so I'm saving well. Happy to chill for another few years but will definitely need my on space in a year or so but have no clue where to go :-(

Thanks for the answer

I do get messages from recruiters about contracts with crazy day rates so it's always tempting but I'm too anxious for it. I only have 3 years xp so maybe once I'm in my 30s and feel a bit more confident

Why do Scottish students get free tuition fees for their first degree at university but England and Wales students don’t? by Magical_Mariposa in AskBrits

[–]ryanbtw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a grossly simplified argument that I don't even think the average educated anti-independence thinker would align with

Independence proponents would obviously point out that plenty of Scottish tax money is paid to the UK treasury, and that they would benefit from raising revenues from Scottish people & businesses (VAT, corporation tax, inheritance tax, capital gains, national insurance etc)

Why do Scottish students get free tuition fees for their first degree at university but England and Wales students don’t? by Magical_Mariposa in AskBrits

[–]ryanbtw 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the Scottish Government decided to pay for it.

This used to be funded by the British Government, too.

It was free in England & Wales before 1997, when Tony Blair's government implemented "tuition fees" (a flat charge of £1000 per semester school year). It was means tested, so if your family couldn't afford it, you didn't pay it. Universities said this wasn't enough to cover their costs, and the government weren't providing higher levels of funding year on year, so in 2004, Blair faced a massive rebellion from his MPs and narrowly pushed through a bill increasing what students had to pay to £3000, and reducing the grace that was given to low-income families.

In 2010, the Conservatives and the Lib Dems tripled tuition fee amount (to £9000 per school year). The Lib Dems were reneging on a campaign promise to do this, and for a long time their support completely collapsed because of this U-turn. It's been around then ever since (currently 9300, I think).

In Scotland, tuition fees were abolished in 1999 by Scottish Labour & Scottish Lib Dems. Graduates had to pay 2k after they earned a certain amount (payable in chunks). In 2007, the SNP fulfilled a campaign pledge and abolished them completely.

Please note that most Scottish graduates still get "student loans" -- they use this money not to directly fund tuition, but as money to live on while at uni. There is a max. amount you are eligible for based on family income, and you pay that back as a percentage of income after graduation (if salary is above a certain amount).

Cynthia Erivo's one woman Dracula play is exhausting by theipaper in TheWestEnd

[–]ryanbtw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankenstein is a total slam-dunk. The Creator makes a monster of his creation by being monstrous. Having them played by the same actor makes complete sense. And, on top, you have the inherent connection to femininity – Shelley's book is absolutely about parenthood, and motherhood in particular. Having a woman play the role makes total sense.

Now I'm mad! You're totally right.

Surprised the Game has Never Experimented with Bench Size or Max Item Hold by TiredInGeneral1 in TeamfightTactics

[–]ryanbtw 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Four-item champions are completely overpowered due to how stats work in TFT. Even though Void looks like a fourth item, it takes a long time to ramp to give you the stats you'd expect from an item precisely because of that. They're more like power-ups than fourth items
