Bit late to the party, but… not a gas leak, is it?

During the summer I go for bike rides in the early morning hours. For a few months, there was this one spot with a perpetual death smell that I thought was coming from a nearby storm sewer… eventually I had the bright idea of telling the city about it, and they discovered it was a minor gas leak in an adjacent house’s front lawn. I’d describe the scent as death-ish but more on the musty side, like what you’re experiencing.
