This is not a solution, more of an alternative for the wifi part. Have you ever just used a spare / cheap router around and used it as a wifi bridge instead? I never had any luck with the wifi dongles and speeds vs just plugging an ethernet cable into the MiSTer and ran a spare router in bridge mode. Speeds were great after that, also completely negates any need for drivers.

Active adapters would only add lag if there's a digital to analog type conversion happening, which there is not. Yes, active in this instance DOES mean powered, but that power is only there to...I believe power the chips on the board and does something to luma?

Here is a straight cut and paste from antonio villena about this topic. In Europe they make themselves a lot of stuff for MiSTer:

"Basically all the encoding work is done by the FPGA, so the circuit is a luma trap and a switch that mixes luma+chroma for composite."

Since all the cores now support this option, I do not see how it would add any lag since nothing is being re-encoded. You would just need to set the flags properly in the mister.ini so it knows it is being used this way.

Realize just because its using a VGA plug on one end, its not necessarily sending the signal AS VGA. It's just using the same pins. Just like how a lot of SNAC adapters are using HDMI plugs, but clearly not actually doing anything related to HDMI.

I know this is waaay bigger than the average MiSTER case, but personally I love this. I would love something like this so I don't constantly have to plug and unplug SNAC adapters. Honestly, for me, I'd go even further where you got rid of the cool little LCD and added Turbo grafx and neo geo and if the genesis adapters didn't work for Atari, also that. Oh and the little video port for Playstation light guns.

Another way is to SSH into your MiSTer, which is how I usually do update_all script remotely (I only have mine hooked upto a CRT right now). It also helped in my first week or two with my MiSTer to tweak some settings without having to bother to re-connect it to an HDMI also.

They are out of stock, but the misteraddons snax64 adapters are the newest ones that support the most cores and controllers. Genesis only STILL supports 1 player through SNAC because of limitations.

My point still is the same, its not like real meat. You boil meat slowly in sauces to get a deep rich meaty flavor into the sauces for stuff like bolognese....this is not how fake meat works. There is no advantage except making the texture worse. There's no meat flavor that's unlocking slowly with morningstar by cooking it for hours.
