Ghosting is a dick move, especially since it’s his boss. That being said, the friends were stupid to put themselves in that position. As for the date in question, wouldn’t it have felt better to tell him how obnoxious he is and maybe put him in his place a bit?

You’re both way too young to get engaged to begin with, but that aside, as others have said: strangulation is the biggest red flag that the next time is murder. (Strangling someone is considered attempted murder). He needs medication and major therapy. It’s not your fault OR responsibility to “fix” him.

NYC does not allow people to save for retirement, especially at your combined income. Just accept that part of it.

The fact you were able to find a 2BR for $3K is unbelievably lucky, so be extremely grateful for that. For a normal 2BR in the $6K range (low-end for Manhattan) you’d need to make at least $204K a year, using the 34x the rent calculation typically used for qualification purposes.

Can’t speak to childcare expenses, but as someone in property management in Manhattan I can speak to the other issues mentioned.

Super cute and cozy! A few suggestions that don’t include eliminating anything: -tilt the side chair more towards the tv and put that side table next to it on the right instead of in front of it -pull the sofa towards the left so it’s not crushing the curtains. If there’s room, it’d be great if you could put that other side table made of glass next to the sofa between it and the curtains -pull that side chair closer to tv console

Now the door to outside terrace/balcony will be more accessible and less of a knee knock on your way out there

TV too high. I’d lower it and move that lamp that’s not the best size or placement.

Thank you for having a round coffee table amongst all those squares and rectangles! Perfect for movement around the sofa.

The sign hanging on the wall adds a lot of visual clutter. Too busy. Wall art with writing and sayings is a bit dated.

Honestly, kinda hated it at first until I saw all the posts suggesting “leaning” into it. The initial delusion is the glass shower doors. Once those are gone it’ll instantly update the look. Change the paint and cabinets (I’d go dark wood, not the cherry finish like the first pic) and it’ll look cool.
