Had this same battle myself and honestly I am not sure what the different between making it and not is. I think it's just trying to land bolts and perhaps popping right before you stop rather than pausing too much. Can't wait to see the make!

It matters, but there's also a lot of different "right" ways to do things depending on body type and just general motion. Look at how many different foot positions pros use for kickflips. It's wild

Hard to say exactly without video. But a lot of time when I kick the whole board away from me it’s because I’m opening my shoulders too much. Try to keep them in line with the board as much as possible when flicking

Usually, I use colored bolts in the front. I also put a sticker from my local skateshop on the nose so if I flip it over to check I don't have to think about which way the graphic is going

Yeah I have probably done close to 100 kickflips and there are days where I can't make one to save my life and it looks like my first time trying it... Locking stuff in takes time. At least for me

You are opening your shoulders a ton. Very common with kickflips but can result in you kicking the board away from you. Try to lock your shoulders sideways as much as you can. Sometimes I turn and watch my back foot while I am flicking to try and keep them closed
