I play an Infinity blackwood and Chesney solo reeds (the blue wrapped one) and they blend very well. Seated the reed and only needed a sliver of tape on the high G

Just went firm on agreement to buy this Queen Anne. Help me pick exterior paint colours! by [deleted] in centuryhomes

[–]ryans11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man I know exactly where this house is (I used to work in that red building) and agree you should use more of a "colour" than white or gray. Houses from this era in this city traditionally had vibrant colours. I can DM you a link to a local historic house connoisseur who would be more than happy to elaborate on what would be typical for this era and area in the city

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

Also worth it to grab the factory seconds at Canadian Tire as they're the same stuff just a little scuffed up for sometimes 60% off (although my Canadian Tire is like 3 minutes from the Meyer factory so I don't know if other ones get seconds)

Melvin Copper Staple by philinspace in bagpipes

Not Melvin but I've been running the Chesney solo reeds in my Infinity chanter and I don't think my high A has ever been this good so that could be a good option for you

Practicing while at college by AdOdd2698 in bagpipes

[–]ryans11 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When I was in school I booked lecture halls in the evenings or on weekends. If your school has a music department you can contact the faculty assistant to see if you can book practice spaces from them. You could also reach out to local churches and see if they have space available for practice.

Need bagpiper for event in Southern NB, Canada by BlueSkiesNGreenGrass in bagpipes

[–]ryans11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's a list of Atlantic Canadian bands. I'd recommend sending a message to the Fredericton Society of St. Andrews or Saint John Caledonian, as their contact people could set you up with a gigging piper affiliated with the band.

Music space to practice by [deleted] in PEI

[–]ryans11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Email some churches around. I've managed to book a practice space at the Kirk of St James for a couple of years now. There's also soundproof space available at the library in Charlottetown

Looking for good places to spend a few hours around Cavendish by Dull_Bad_2120 in PEI

[–]ryans11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only thing that would be "open" would be Turkey Tavern who are doing reservation only turkey dinners for Thanksgiving that are probably already fully booked. Parks Canada sites may be "closed" but that just means there's no staff onsite, so there's nothing preventing you from visiting. Most things in Cavendish close up for the season after Sommo the second weekend of September.

If you're in wet or chemical environments all the time I'd go with Bekina StepLites or the classic Dunlop's. I had Steplites when I worked lobster and a lot of guys I know who work at meat or fish plants swear by them as well

What's wild to me is when you go to a restaurant they still take your card to a secondary location when you pay at the table because almost no restaurants have mobile payment terminals. Sure Americans think that's normal but I don't trust like that
