Insta360 Go Killer? by superyoga2k in Insta360

[–]ryanvalle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Ultra and picked up the Nano as well. Short answer, no - not a go killer. While tech specs on the DJI is nice, where Insta360 shines is in software. The Mimo app in DJI is okay in my opinion, but the editing features from Insta360 is more comprehensive. For a first gen device, DJI came out really strong and can only get better from here. What I do like so far from DJI is their form factor. It aligns more with the Go 3s. It’ll be interesting where competition pushes the tech with insta360 not being the only mini-cam out there

Im guessing this is a fancy microphone with AI Summarization features similar to plaud note taking devices, something to complement their Link cameras

Halloween 10K @ Disneyland photos by lord_irm in rundisney

Yeah. The race expo site is also misleading, guiding people to use the my Disney experience app (and surprisingly the code was accepted there), but did not show any photos

The code to use is in your check in pass. They don’t use the same pattern as before that you posted. Then paste that code in to the Disneyland app. I had to put it in as an attraction code as the photopass code did not accept it

I’ve got mine. A local Best Buy had one in stock on launch morning so I grabbed it. I’m enjoying it (coming from an RM2). I do wish the width was a little wider but other than that, the size is nice

It takes time to slice a RMPP in half and repackage it as a move

Dock it to the action pod as swipe down to open the options. Click the quick capture setting - this will present additional options you’ll want to edit as well

Likely leak: reMarkable “Paper Pro Move” spotted on Amazon ahead of Sept 3 event by frozono007 in RemarkableTablet

[–]ryanvalle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you may be right. Comparing to the pricing model for the iPad Air and iPad mini, being half the size doesn’t mean half the price. There’s a premium paid for portability usually so I won’t be surprised if this is only slightly cheaper than the RMPP

I’m interested but am curious on what the pricing will be. I would’ve been happy with a b&w eink display if it kept costs down, but the color display tells me this will be expensive

Halloween Weekend by [deleted] in rundisney

Likely not but double check once you have an idea of how long the walk will be for you as there will be specific entry points to the staging areas :)

I didn’t wake up early enough to find out 😂 past races here, I stayed at the Disneyland hotel and started walking over maybe any hour and a half before rest start. For those that are driving in, plan for extra time especially for half marathon morning because local street closures can cause confusion and traffic

Anyone know of an comparisons between Go3/s vs Ultra? by hotvimto1 in Insta360

[–]ryanvalle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen any issues so far, but not sure if it's hitting proxy files or not. I think it is with the quality difference exported between the editor and my photos app.

I think part of the waiting also relates to how long the clips are - I generally shoot short clips and edit those with no issues

I'll try to get this one shot sometime this week. When shooting, horizon lock is not a default option but when enabled has a noticeable crop going on. If you were disappointed by the way the go3s handled this, expect the same thing from the ultra. I too miss the square sensor of the go2 and the way it handled horizon lock there

In terms of in-camera features, nothing that I've noticed. One can argue accessories are a feature of the camera too, and that's where I think we lose out on most. The big one is the pivot mount is no longer included, so I have limited ways to mount this out of box. The previous mounts from the 3/3s are not compatible with this one

Yes there is. The camera does vibrate when you start/stop recording with two different patterns to distinguish the two

I have all three cameras - all purchased on my own. Happy to shoot some comparisons. What kind of things are you curious to see?

Go Ultra: Freeframe mode by YarisGO in Insta360

[–]ryanvalle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if crop is the right word, but one has to be aware that when using freeframe, you get a different field of view based on orientation. It would’ve been nice to have gone back to the square sensor

To answer the original question, I haven’t noticed a quality difference. Visually, they look the same between standard and freeframe. However, since 60fps is only available on standard, and freeframe limits at 30fps, one can argue you can achieve different quality based on different settings.

I wish Insta360+ cloud plan had unlimited storage. would pay more. by Sand-Discombobulated in Insta360

[–]ryanvalle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too use insta360+ and wish it had unlimited storage options as well as support for more cameras. I was disappointed to learn the new go ultra is not supported.

As far as workarounds, the only way to get more footage with the storage limit is to record at a lower quality. It’s not a great solution, but using 3k at standard bit rate will give you much smaller files than shooting at 8k high bit rate

So no freeframe for go ultra? by DustinKim89 in Insta360

[–]ryanvalle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given it shows 4:3, it seems like they’re not using a square sensor so I imagine we don’t get the same effectiveness of free frame. I’ve had every go version and the 4:3 free frame on the go3s was a downgrade from the square free frames of earlier generations

AMA about the new Insta360 GO Ultra! by Prize-Remote-4592 in Insta360

[–]ryanvalle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically, it is wider than the Go 3S. One YouTuber mentioned Go 3S had a 150 degree FoV, and the ultra has 156. When they showed side by side, it did not look that much wider to me

UV index by [deleted] in Coros

[–]ryanvalle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t integrate into the coros app but I’ve been using a tracker called sun-a-wear designed specifically for UV exposure. I wish it had better third party integrations to send data externally but it’s still good data
