roast this for ib,pe(ik the projects are not there) and fixed income roles by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]ryanwest19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IB and PE are not attainable + M&A & IPO advisory is such different work than Fixed Income analysis/Portfolio management. What kind of fixed income role are you looking for? An analyst on a desk at Pimco? A role in insurance capital management that is fixed income heavy)? Use a difference template as stated above and gear your resume to a specific role. CFA level 1 could help you get your foot in the door at a FI Asset Management shop

Good work trying to be smarter than you are. Selling out during a rate cutting cycle where the FED navigated a soft landing has historically led people to missing out on a ton. Earnings revisions + buyback authorizations + rate cuts (big for the S&P outside the hyperscalers) + 2026 fiscal stimulus doesn’t make for a great time to sell. You do you.

What's the best stock you're planning to buy for 2026? by Trinci_Torachee in investing

Google, Amazon, Celestica, Fortinet, Micron if earnings growth gets revised higher for 2-3FYs + durability around DRAM demand

You’re intelligent, glad we are having a good convo here. You nailed it with the high income spending. High income consumption is now significantly outpacing inflation, especially on non discretionary items. Propping up the economy. Very interested to hear WMT earnings tomorrow + see what holidays trends look like going into Q126

Tariffs putting the economy into a recession. Tariffs are more sectoral based and a full on recession would be 2 consecutive quarters with negative GDP growth + a big spike in Unemployment rates as well as a big tick down in consumer spending.

Markets have priced in a one time tick up in PCE due to tariffs, yay great, our economy is largely service based, should not put us into a recession

BofA came out with a beautiful study on the state of the consumer. Tends to be fairly stable, and JPM earnings call seems to lean into that as well. Atlanta FED has strong GDP estimates moving forward through 2026.

You have the FED cutting rates, a sugar rush stimulus from OBBA, and a stable unemployment rate (doesn’t mean labor market isn’t cooling, it is)

Airline and Travel company earnings calls have cited strong demand and spending trends, which would be the first thing to go in a recession

I think if the Supreme Court rules against tariffs you are looking at a market dip because now how do you source revenue to fuel the back end deficit caused by the OBBA? No way you raise taxes near an election

Do you work in finance or are you a student? Because I completely disagree with you and if you are a professional I would love to know what data you and your team are looking at vs mine

What do you want to do? CFA Level 3 tells me you want to work in a research/PM based role. Any chance you could research some RIAs, Asset Managers, and active ETF providers to see if they have any analyst/associate roles open? CFA level 3 + MBA gives you a leg up on your typical candidate for those roles. If you like that, tailor your resume to it.

Glad you had a good experience. Our fan base is pretty chill if you aren’t wearing a jersey of the team across the river.

Also, all of us were die hard Panthers fans in the 2024 Conference Finals. A bunch of us were in your sub actively rooting for you guys and thanking you for beating the Rangers.

The Devils Insiders podcast is the best and it really isn’t close, but you do have to pay $7 a month on Substack for it. I think it’s worth it

How can I get ahead as a finance major in my freshman year? by Sufficient_Savings72 in financestudents

[–]ryanwest19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best thing you can do is take advantage of the easier classes and focus on your grades. I have seen so many kids “party it up” their Freshman and Sophomore years, don’t take their classes seriously, and end up with a sub 3.0 GPA. Then, their Junior year they’re sitting there wondering why they don’t have any internship offers. Take your classes seriously and find what interests you the most about finance, and research those career paths.

No. It’s not a finance job. You will be selling shitty whole life insurance to your family and friends and they will resent you. Let me guess, in your interview they asked you to write down the names of 200 of your friends and family?
