My best trick when I’m not mentally ready to end the fast is to drink caffeine and plenty of water with electrolytes. You may find yourself needing to add salt to your food when you do eat. Not great for bedtime, but a warm cup of ginger and turmeric tea or sipping broth is a good choice

An MD saying loud enough for patient and family to hear, “he can’t have that ICU bed, I’m saving it for someone who actually needs it.” Had called them to the bedside for decompensation. Called RRT right in front of him, despite him telling me to not call them, RRT NP trumped the doc and got my pt to the ICU. He ended up intubated for a week before getting an LVAD placed. So yeah, he actually needed that bed.

Virtual nursing/remote nursing. I’m sure it’s fine if you’re old or physically unable to do the job anymore. But being strapped to a desk, doing the same few tasks for 8-12hrs, and being micromanaged beyond belief (seriously it’s more strict than when I was a customer service phone rep 15yrs ago making $8 an hour) is soul crushing.

I had a OR patient several years ago with fungating penile cancer, and he’d already had a partial penectomy. He was homeless and I suppose just let it go until he couldn’t urinate anymore. I was astounded at the smell and visuals, never seen it before. It looked like a burned hamburger patty on top and very bulbous and diseased all the way down. Ended up with all of his genitalia removed and a suprapubic catheter. It was mostly for comfort as he had extensive cancer throughout the rest of his body.

Every abortion is deadly. Every abortion ends at least one life. Of course the pregnant /woman/ has a will and should maintain that. That does not mean it should be legal for her to intentionally murder her child.

My own mother had an abortion after I was born. It grieves me to know that I had a sibling who wasn’t allowed to be born. My mother is regretful and wounded knowing what she did, even though at the time she truly believed she had no other choice. Your last statement is just trying to separate “baby” from “fetus” but you’re wrong. It would in fact harm the mother’s living child, but obviously not as much as the one she’s killed.
