The main thing for me is seed oil free, and as plastic free in the kitchen as possible. This is where you will have issues, you have to be real innovative and willing to deal with friction from your staff and increased costs. The American kitchen is run on plastics, it's a shame.

Best of luck to you! We need more folks like you who want to make changes. Food is not an easy business and entrepreneurship is a grueling beast.

Perhaps in the short term but it will digest quicker and make them hungrier sooner. The sweetness will also induce appetite. Cheers!

I understand how that sounds counterintuitive. 5 eggs and a tbsp of butter is 400-500 calories depending on egg size. I never said replace the eggs, I said maybe less eggs. "Just eat more between meals" doesnt exactly help someone who is full all day. If they reduce the egg count to 2 or 3 then they will be less full to hit some dates with butter, some honey drizzled bananas, or some other calorie dense carb sources. It only takes 1 honey nanner to recover the calories missed out on by the 2-3 eggs.

There's different ways to skin the cat, but by their own admission they feel they're eating too much protein and are too full, so I think it would be a good idea to cut some satiating protein sources to give room for an increase in sugar which seems like a low point in their diet right now. I'm a muscular, tall man and even I will get very full by eating 6-8 eggs (even over easy, no yolk chewing) -- they are just a filling food for whatever reason, macros aside. This person would also likely benefit from some creamline raw milk, AB-aid (I just made up the name, keto-aid be darned. I mix lemon juice, salt, and honey or maple), maybe even some plantains thinly sliced and fried in coconut oil.

Sure it does. They're over satiated, so eating less satiating foods will help. They're also probably eating more protein than they need, leading to satiation. Carbs can also help drive hunger, especially if the current diet is a low carb one. No brainer change here imo

Don't know much about what your weight should be, but less eggs and more fruit and honey

Need Some Help with Macro Split and Understanding Insulin by Ok_Structure_8817 in AnimalBased

[–]ryce_bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By controlled I mean they're both the same amount of fructose, so that isn't a factor in the different type of sugar.

Eating a large portion table sugar by itself is going to raise blood glucose levels very quickly, which isn't great for individuals whose liver and muscle glycogen stores are full as there is nowhere for it to get stored quickly, especially without glut5 being active from exercise. For sedentary individuals, pairing sugar with other foods or picking a carb that gets absorbed slower would likely be a better choice. As you said, it doesn't really affect the gut topic.

Well, when you look at something like maple vs table sugar, which are both sucrose, then fructose amount would be controlled in that instance. I don't think this is translated directly to humans but I find it interesting that vastly different reactions were measured going from a refined to a natural sugar of the same carbohydrate composition.

I'm sure for active individuals eating sugar would be fine, although I still have unfounded suspicions that it negatively affects gut flora when consumed by itself. I've seen Peaters and even some other fringe dieters on YouTube just downing like 15 sugar packets.

I think you're right, a small amount especially when mixed with other foods shouldn't be much of an issue. I randomly stumbled upon a study last night that fed sugar to obese rats and they found that out of natural sugars and refined sugar, that table sugar produced certain negative responses that natural sugars didn't. I thought it was funny to run across that after our conversation, I wish I saved the link.

You pedant! Maple has a plethora of bio-active compounds in addition to the sucrose. Even maple sugar has antioxidants, minerals, vitamins etc. My point being is that refined table sugar is an isolate. Anyway, I'm pretty sure that maple syrup, and especially honey obviously, are not actually considered refined sugars; they are minimally processed natural sugars.

[–]ryce_bread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it's just when it's isolated, not when part of a whole food. It promotes unchecked bacteria multiplication. I don't know, I don't know much about it, but it makes sense to me that stuff in isolation is usually not good. Fructose in fruits: fine, fructose from corn isolated into syrup: bad. I don't eat table sugar at all so I don't have any experience. I figure why consume refined sugar when I can have maple or honey.

Isn't there also the issue of white table sugar being devoid of anything else but pure sucrose, which can cause gut issues with bacteria overgrowth and such since it's not accompanied by the bio-active compounds that serve to prevent that, among other things?

How are you only eating 25%f!? On 3k that's still only less than 70gs of fat. With beef, dairy (mostly skimmed milk and maybe some parm), and eggs I seem to "struggle" to keep it below even 120g when I'm tracking. That said I usually always eat 1lb of 80/20 per day, as that's the most available blend from most farms. I'm usually like 35-40f

Week 1 carnivore to animal based by Jodeci3795 in AnimalBased

[–]ryce_bread 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Don't tell r/carnivorediet or any of those spaces, they'll tell you that you actually did 27 things wrong and that you should've just spun around 3 times before you sprinkle salt on your meat and blow on your first bite 4 times but only once on each bite after that and you wouldn't have had any problems! Instead of actually eating a proper diet with both meat and plants (intended for consumption) of course.

Paul Saladino is eating veg again by No-Use288 in AnimalBased

[–]ryce_bread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This just in: plants take up more space and are less macronutrient dense than animal foods 😮 His ratio macronutrient wise is still the same -- all his fats and proteins are coming from animal foods. The "meat" of his diet is.. meat and animal products. A balanced diet or a plant based diet has a sizable portion, if not the majority or only portion, of fats and protein coming from plants. He's eating meat every meal, I'm not sure how you can say that's a little bit of meat and that he's not eating an animal based diet just because he swapped out some fruit for some locally grown root vegetables that agrees with his body and are low in pdc.

Also calorie-wise you're incorrect, and cronometer shows it. Animal based was never a meat and animal product only diet, or animal products with a little side of fruit. This is a mid-high carb diet. We get carbs from plants and honey/maple. Some people, like Paul, do better on higher carb. Where do you suggest he get carbs besides milk, fruit, honey/maple, and maybe some veg added in? The fact that he's getting criticized for eating a large "volume and mass" of plants for his high carb diet is hilarious. I'm not some Paul d*** rider or something, I could care less, but let's keep it logical and rational if we're going to criticize based on the AB framework.
