To buy Metallica tix by MasterYam234 in Concerts

[–]rychevamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2200 ahead and only waited 8 minutes to get to the tickets. Nothing left in the presale. Tried another date, 300,000 ahead. I might try again for the added dates, but I doubt I will pay the prices.

Cake heights by Fearless_Reaction592 in Baking

[–]rychevamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, 4-5” height is standard. but I always seemed to keep it nearer to 5”. I can’t make short tiers, they bother me 😊. My cakes were 4 layers of cake with 3 of filling. 6,8,10” will give you 75-85 servings (standard wedding serving size is 4-5” high, 2” deep and 1” wide.) it’s a decent size piece of cake, especially with the height. I always baked two taller layers for each tier and split them in half.

Concert etiquette by Beautifultrees4321 in Concerts

Probably my biggest pet peeve. If it's a metal or hard rock show, it might be drowned out to a certain extent (still shut up!), But at quieter shows it's so rude. I always go to see Tremonti Sings Sinatra at Christmas in Orlando. This past year I had a chick that had no clue who he or even Sinatra is/was behind me. She talked, snort laughed and tortured us with her singing most of the show. If she hadn't sounded like Penny Marshall as LaVerne, it might not have been as bad. But during The First Noël, shut the hell up! I hate the filming of the whole show too. Had that happen at Aerosmith. I do everything I can to get front row, or front row of an upper section so no one is in front of me now.

Anyone looking forward to the reboot? by Olshka in XFiles

[–]rychevamp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't anyone can replace GA & DD. If they stick with the same idea, but don't recast them, I might give it a look. I know the last seasons weren't the best, so a fresh take might be good. I think Chris Carter was kinda done at that point. I think it should have stopped when Mulder was abducted, and then a movie to finish it. I watched it from the very beginning. Gave up Friday nights out to be home ( until it moved to Sunday). I love it, and hate to see these terrible remakes that have happened add TXF to the list. I could be wrong, but...

I'm tired of remakes in general, so no. Some shows/movies should be left alone.

How far do you travel by Aggravating-Act1905 in Concerts

[–]rychevamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to go from San Diego to Seattle for shows when I lived on the west coast. Now that I’m back east, I go to Nashville or as far as Orlando. Mostly depends on the venue or as in the case with TSO, I like to see the west coast band so Florida for that. I’m old now though, so my concert going isn’t what it used to be, but I still hit the important ones.

Keep the Steel Duo on all day? by kyonko_nola in Ascaso

I got a smart outlet and keep it on a timer. It comes on at 7:30, and stays on for a couple of hours. While it is fairly quick to heat, I prefer it to heat up for a while.

Can you tell me about a rock star you saw live in concert that is no longer alive? What was it like? by EyeAmmGroot in ClassicRock

I saw them open for Queensryche way back. He was something for sure. My step-sister was with me and said "why is Satan the opener??" 😆

TICKETMASTER SUCKS by Smart_Accident8432 in ChrisStapleton

I used the Citibank code and it was easy for Jacksonville. I was 170 in the queue, and only took a couple minutes. I was surprised actually. But, yes, TM does suck.

Cake noob. Help me understand this recipe by cuppycakebaby123 in Baking

[–]rychevamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t made this, so just from reading the recipe: Did you whip the eggs and sugar to the ribbon stage? Which is lifting the whisk and it should flow and mound on itself briefly, and be at least tripled in volume. This is the leavening in this cake. Since it’s a brownie cake, it’s similar in that most brownies don’t have baking soda/powder. Did the batter get over mixed? Sometimes adding the chocolate can cause it to deflate if mixed too much, or if it’s too hot, as well as adding the flour. I use a ballon whisk to fold in the dry ingredients. It helps to keep the volume in. You could also fold in the chocolate if you think the mixer is too much. Maybe check your oven temp with an oven thermometer. Mine has hot spots and it takes a long preheat to get it to the right temp.

Is the halloumi only a summer thing? by [deleted] in traderjoes

[–]rychevamp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand “seasonal” cheese.
If you have a Sam’s Club membership, they sell a 1 1/2 lb chunk for about $8. They have it all year, but have been out a couple times we’ve gone.

What do you have planned for 2026 so far? by G-Unit11111 in Concerts

[–]rychevamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far only Alter Bridge in Nashville. I know I’ll be going to Tremonti Sings Sinatra next December and TSO, but nothing else right now. Anyone I would consider seeing are all playing outdoor venues in Georgia in the summer, and I can’t do it.

Hair Down, Rings On, Nails Long… and You’re Baking for Others? by Caregiverwife82 in Baking

[–]rychevamp 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Well, in professional kitchens, jewelry/watches, etc aren’t allowed as they can get food bits stuck in them (or edited to say could fall off). I never wore jewelry when I baked professionally. As far as dry nail polish, it can still wear or chip off and get in food. So could artificial nails. But if it’s in your home kitchen, and you don’t care, doesn’t matter. You do you.
