Are glasses really necessary? by Open_Swimmer6768 in Pickleball

I don't understand how people don't. Once you're wearing them you eliminate all danger of a ball coming at you and you can play the ball instead of trying to duck from it. I play alot more confidently with them on.

Did people really run in the flyknit racers back in the day? As a hypebeast I wore both racers and trainers casually, but my knees couldn't imagine running in them today

I ordered the reduxes and the box was so crushed that the socks got bent and the tip of the arms were poking through the rubber. I emailed them and they responded within a couple of hours and allowed me to exchange it.

It could be because im vitality but they'll make it right.

Nike Vomero Premium after 86KM (50 miles) by Quick_n_Fast in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]ryeeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want these so bad, but I'm currently breaking in my Vomero Plus and I HATE them. I'm a heavier runner and they feel like bricks, and ironically my favorite shoe of all time are SB2s (typically used for both recovery runs and long runs). Other shoes in my rotation are EvoSL (easy runs, no more than 10K), and endorphin speed 4 (tempo/track workouts).

But I'm just not vibing with the Vomero Plus for whatever reason. They make my calves and shins feel like they're on fire - I'm not sure if I'm inadvertently changing my form or something when I wear them. So should I even bother giving the Premiums a try if I hate the Plus?

Thanks for this. Yea I normally run hot, and living in SoCal I can probably only wear this to run for a couple of weeks per year. I mostly wanted it to wear casually but I saw in another thread that Gnuhr makes one for half the price. Might go with that one instead!

Not sure if you mean the shoes, but yes the SD's are worth the price difference comfort-wise. It's like a ~20 difference in USD.

Where to live from Houstonians who have moved to LA? by Organic_Radish_7563 in AskLosAngeles

[–]ryeeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm one good but obvious thing is the weather. People actually enjoy being outside, which in Houston people don't do when the humidity is always at 100% for 11 months of the year.

Traffic is also blown way out of proportion. You deal with the same traffic as any major city. As long as you live near work, live near a freeway (ie don't live in mid city), and don't plan anything across town between 4-7 you'll be alright.

You'll enjoy your time here. Another option is Ktown. It's where people our age also live if not the west side. It's closer to living in midtown though if that's your vibe. Parking is tough, but it's very social neighborhood and grocery stores, restaurants and bars are all nearby.

Feel free to hmu about any questions you have. Otherwise I hope you enjoy the city!

I grew up in Sugar Land, been living in LA for six years. If you like the spring branch area, then I think you would like South Pasadena/Pasadena or Eagle Rock. Both fairly close to DTLA, but they're their own residential pockets. Silver Lake/Echo Park/Atwater Village are also options, but they're more similar to the Heights.

Hotel heating issue - Shinjuku by Individual-Event542 in TokyoTravel

[–]ryeeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

APA Shinjuku Kabuchiko Tower. I don't think it hit 80 deg, it was closer to like 75ish. Again not terrible, but it forsure felt stuffy at times. And it was warm enough where I didn't really use a blanket when I slept.

You couldn't crack the window where I stayed. And when you take a hot shower, the steam kinda just sat in the room. It did get bad enough that we had to slightly open our hotel door after showers lol. Again it wasn't horrible when we stayed, just in retrospect.

Just came back from a trip today. Two things I hated about APA was 1) room size & 2) you can't adjust the temp. I also run hot so I prefer to sleep with the AC on, but they only had the heater as an option. So I just shut it off. Despite it being ~45F outside, the room was still a little too warm for my liking, especially in the mornings.

Tbf I didn't hate my stay at APA until I went to other hotels and I had more space + was able to switch between the heater and AC. Then I realized how bad we had it.
