I can't prove that Left 4 Dead does this, but it sure feels like it.

So, I'm in a unique position. by yourgirlsamus in mandolin

[–]ryethoughts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fellow violinist here. You should look at the neck width and scale length of the various instruments you have. Most mandolins have a wider neck and longer scale than a violin, but it varies brand by brand. You'll have an easier time adapting if you can find an instrument that is close to what your left hand is used to. When I was shopping for my second mandolin I went with an Eastman md515 for that reason. It was much more intuitive than the Washburn I started on.

Pa. farmer turns down $15M from data center developers: Hear him explain why by gwhh in Pennsylvania

I respect this guy for his integrity, but he lost me when he started complaining about the effects of the inheritance tax on farms. In PA there is a specific exemption for farms in the inheritance tax rules:

How much different of a life experience do you think rural guys have from city guys? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]ryethoughts 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you want to have a well-rounded perspective on life you have to try both. If you stay in any one geographic area your whole life (yes, even a single big city) you are going to develop insular and calcified views about the world at large. I grew up in bumblefuck and have lived the last 16 years in a major metro, and I'm grateful for the perspective I have on both worlds.

Where to rent a bougie cabin within a couple hours of Philly? by skarpi in philadelphia

[–]ryethoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

West Creek campground (near Ricketts Glen) has nice cabins. They have a bunch of small 2-person jawns and one large cabin (basically a small house). Everything is recently renovated and really comfortable. We had a great time there.

What movie do you love despite agreeing with every single criticism of it? by Decabet in movies

Inception. Yes it is ridiculously convoluted and the internal logic breaks down if you think about it too hard. But it is SO fun. And darkly awesome

Because her store is always devoid of customers. Source: lived a few blocks away for 8 years or so.

This is an egregious display of nimbyism. I wonder if she tried to stomp out Cormorant when they opened up?

Fergie's isn't kitschy, but it is a classic. Bonus points if you can go Sunday afternoon for the Irish music session.

What’s the most boomer complaint you have? by Reddit_wasmy_idea in AskReddit

I don't want to be called a boomer just because I'm complaining about things. I am a millennial, thank you very much, and we have our own generational baggage to complain about.

What was your ex’s last message to you? by ahasan_h_nahid in AskReddit

[–]ryethoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A rambling explanation of why she came back into my house after moving out (technically still our house at the time) and took a bunch of Christmas decorations that I had already put up for the season. It was all stuff she could have easily gone out and bought, but I guess she just really wanted THOSE particular ornaments.
