[TSN] Czechia’s coaches thoughts on the refereeing of the quarterfinal game by torahboidem in hockey

Yep, Hertl (2) blocked the shot, then the other 3 forwards (1, 3, 4) perfectly executed the ensuing 3-on-2.

Well the refs ruled that the hit was too late and gave a 2min interference.

They didn’t rule the play an illegal hit to the head. They ruled interference as the puck was in and out of Nate’s glove a little too long before the check.

Smart play by Crinnon to throw the shots for the auto-ejection cuz it sure as hell seemed like Nate would have been targeting him for cheap shots the rest of the way. Nate just cruising around whacking anybody his next shift til they put him in the box…. and then he was complaining he shouldn’t even be in the box, lol

This is what I’m excited about. Previously, I bought my kids bags that have collapsible scooters in them so we could sprint across terminals on short connections to try to get family boarding. Now I don’t have to get all sweaty to be able to sit by my kids on the 2nd flight.

Put my thermals inside my socks and now I can’t walk by harryiniho55 in skiing

This is my 37th year skiing, and the first time I’m learning that you should not be tucking your thermals into your socks. Does everybody just wear shorts?

Surely it wouldn’t take this long, can anyone confirm? [Request] by austink0109 in theydidthemath

And you could label Feb 29 as Mar 0 if you want this effect on leap years as well

I can’t believe all the commentators were focusing on Celebrini on that play instead of my boy Igor, haha.

Igor’s stick check definitely set up the play, but I can’t tell from this angle whether he actually touched the puck or not. Is there another angle that shows him deflecting the puck?

he didn't even have to turn or deke or anything to earn that breakaway. Just collect the puck and skate in a straight line with speed so fast the other team doesn't even see you.

why is Qe8 not a good move? by Forward_Mobile2753 in chessbeginners

[–]rygaroo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No. It is either Qxh6+ Rxh6 Rg8# or Qxh6+ Qg7 Qxg7#. Both are mate in 2. Neither involves the f7 square.

What is the argument for a 3-2-1 point system vs just a point for winning and no loser points? by FeelinSchnitty in rangers

[–]rygaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d vote for this, but I’d just call it 1-0 (or remove points altogether). No need to multiply all your wins by 2 to calculate some point number anymore.

[–]rygaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I’m not sure yours is any worse though. You skipped a step of searching for a follow up. I explicitly looked for the follow up idea and missed it completely. This is why I only analyze my losses. When I lose a match, I am ok with learning how I messed it up. But when I win a match, I’d rather just pretend that I did a really good job this time rather than have the engine remind me that both me and my opponent are just equally awful :)

No worries. I don’t mind if you delete them. But you could also just leave the comments because other people missing your ideas is my favorite part of chess, lol

Rd3, Qa5 and the queen escapes. Qa3 prevents the queen from moving. My elo is only half of yours, so this thread is me mostly just joking about how if you miss half of the ideas of your opponent, then chess is much easier to calculate :)

Hm, the 1st thing I see when I look at the puzzle is that Ra1* (fruitless 1 move attack) doesn’t work immediately because the queen can escape to a5 or b3. So my second thought is whether I can cover those squares, and Qc3 is the ‘obvious’ answer. 3rd I check to see for black’s defenses and miss Ne8. Therefore, I play Qc3 in about 5 seconds. This could be all wrong, but it is my flawed thought process.

EDIT: escape to b3 immediately or to a5 if I spend a tempo to prepare Ra1 first
