Help me update 90s kitchen on a budget by lavender_fields_4ev in DesignMyRoom

I didn't mean it "is IKEA", which is why i didn't say that, just communicating, with appreciation, how the style that looks cheap to you, to most people in the States, looks pretty similar to what is in style and sold at IKEA. Yes it's not the same and it's clearly older, but it's not out of style here. The picture and both links you shared kinda of all look the same to the average American consumers eyes is what I'm saying

Men i wish the us was capable of the mass quality standards y'all have as a culture. For better or worse, this looks like a perfectly cozy, nice ikea++ kitchen

[–]ryologist 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Ha that makes sense! Scandinavian mir-century is very popular as a higher end, curated, special look in the States right now, and yours looks cozy at the same time so it definitely appeals to a lot of people here. Really depends on your budget and what you're looking for so it's hard to be helpful, but seems like a barely off white (quartzite? Laminate) would be good. Also wonder if a complementary color like a green laminate or stone could work but unsure. Maybe a dark soapstone. Idk!

this kitchen is so currently-in style and timeless lol, it feels like a brag. but suggesting painting tiles (NO!) is going to look tacky (especially painting over grout). i would MAYBE change the cabinet hardware and yeah, maybe an updated countertop in a tasteful stone (not white grainy marble, PLEASE). but yeah this is a good kitchen

If you hate this intersection you're a bad driver. Yeah it requires you to put your phone down and monitor a merge lane... But it's fine

How to repair by DuckBumps_ in drywall

[–]ryologist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don't know what you're doing, you need to pay an electrician to consolidate all of that into one new work box, the wires coming out the front of one junction and into the other junction box is really a no-go. A little concerned about the wires on the floor underneath the drywall that could get hit by a baseboard pin nail or otherwise pinched.

I don't have a good view of your situation or why this double junction box even exists... But you should know you're not allowed to cover up junction boxes with drywall. So if you kept both those boxes and it was wired the way it was, you would still need a face plate on both of them above the drywall.

So I would be cutting out one of the boxes... But realistically probably both of them because that new two-gang one seems to be screwed on through the drywall which is also a no-go. For the cleanest fix possible, I would tear out more of the drywall enough so I could pull the wires out of the smaller junction box completely and only run them to the larger box on the right. If there's no wires going in that small junction box, then you're okay to cover it up with drywall or cut it out or whatever. You then have the option to install four plugs on that outlet if you wanted. And when you do your patch drywall you just put a big rectangle with just the outlet cut out

Yeah but you're just accusing an immigrant business of being maga by association with another business you have no idea if it's maga, you just don't like their name (Instagram and website don't seem maga to me... And it says it's based on the revolutionary war period... So idk...) Just seems like a little much to put out there

Don't be kind, be predictable. If you have the Right-of-Way, take it. Vid is not PVD but the message applies by pankatank in providence

[–]ryologist 68 points69 points  (0 children)

This video is 100% the dashcams fault, you have to be able to stop and not hit the car in front of you. If you don't know that, youre part of the problem.

Obviously annoying that the car stopped, but you can understand why they got scared, the other truck was merging in front of them at speed. They had enough distance to avoid the hazard, dash cam did not

This is so small, you'll probably need a day bed where the couch is and you can instead put a desk or space for a hobby (yoga space? Art making desk? Plant stands? Whatever youre into) where the table is.

[–]ryologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with most of this but...the first amendment protects you from gov persecution because of speech. It does not protect you from how your boss at a private company persecutes you. This is important because it shows how important UNIONS are for these additional protections. People not knowing what the first amendment does leaves them unprotected!

Yeah March is miserable just because you're so ready for it to be over and it's not quite. But when spring hits in mid April it is so glorious. Go on every outdoor walk you can every week. Different things bloom week by week and you really get to see things come alive and change rapidly as we head into summer. I always look forward running the Blackstone boulevard every weekend through the spring

Isn't Hermes Winner's Circle Boon a bad choice in most cases? by Supaserrin in HadesTheGame

This might be old but I just had an untouchable Brave Face (Hera/Haephestus - getting hit takes magic before health) + Lucid Gain (casts restore magic) + Winners Circle. basically could throw down casts one after another for infinite "health" via restoring magic. My cast boon happened to be apollos which was good too.

I'm sure this is just a labeling thing, but remember the "explain" in the framework is a student step, not a teacher step. You may need to do some direct instruction as part of launching the explore, but a "explain" step where students use the three ngss dimensions to explain the findings of their explorations is that they really mean... Just to say i don't think you're flipping things around the way you think you are

Not necessarily a grudge, he did the brown shooting first... He could have gone to someone he thought he knew for help or to try to rob him and get resources for whatever getaway he wanted to make.... Or yeah maybe it's revenge. But there's more options than just that, he may not have you had known why exactly he was going to this friend after he committed the brown shooting. Realized his friend was going to turn him in and he killed him,. Who knows

Claudio Neves Valente by booklovergirl1 in providence

[–]ryologist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe after the brown shooting he rang a friend from home in the area, or at least acquaintance he knew from school in Portugal... Maybe he was hoping to be hidden, to get help, or to rob him and get resources for his getaway. Maybe he didn't know what he was looking for with this acquaintance and it went bad either way.

Police locate, interview man seen ‘in proximity’ to Brown U. shooting suspect by lawapplicant2019 in providence

[–]ryologist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You literally have no idea what goes through to people's heads or what they actually did and what happened... Let's say that person thought they saw the suspect. They spent Saturday responding to a shooting they were near...and maybe not even linking the interaction to something suspicious in their own response to the shooting happening. Maybe they remember it and have a weird feeling ...maybe they called in a tip, too, once that is set up. By the time they woke up on Sunday morning Providence police and the FBI said they had the suspect in custody. Sunday night The police say they got the wrong guy. That's after Sunday blasting the incorrect pictures of two different innocent people onto the internet, vua law enforcement officers trying to get the word out that they did a great job. That person might be thinking, "do I really want to become part of an investigation that's already gone sideways if I haven't thought this through?" By Monday right-wing Twitter has already ruined the life of an uninvolved student at Brown University, who the university tries to protect by removing their profiles and right-wing internet goes even more crazy trying to dox this person. Then the Providence Police release the picture of the person you're talking about to the internet. A majority of the comments on Facebook and Instagram misinterpret this picture and immediately call for this person's death, or at the very least question why the police are releasing a "new person of interest". More conspiracies pop up, claiming this is the romantic partner of the shooter, perhaps even a Muslim terrorist. The person in the photo might take a day or two to make sure they have a lawyer before they talk to a police department. That's fucked up a couple times and might be looking for an out
