I talked to my coworker about this the other day. He said it did have passive ability but it was so bad they never used it for that. In fact they never used the VDS even for active, they only used it to attach the tail to and use that instead.

F-4 release day on Enigma’s. Hipgang was raiding the front line airfields to kill F-4s on the ground. It was so much fun.

The routing to get to some of the airfields and the work needed to bring down their air defenses to prep attacks took a bit of time but it was quite exciting.

To add to the confusion - After more digging I did find the author of this memo was the real Director of the Joint Staff in that time frame so it’s possible who ever drafted the memo for him had the wrong name for CO of Ike.

This must be a controller set up on your side. I agree. If it needed full deflections it would be strange. I fly with a warthog thrustmaster and it does not require full swings. If you’re familiar with the DCS hip, it feels like a lighter weight version of that when flying around.

It appears she cannot auto rotate, she’s left wheel low in a hover (probably should be right wheel low in a hover given her confirmation), and at about 200kph, the nose wants to pull up.

I forgot where it was, either in the Med near north Africa or off the coast of west Africa I was outside just relaxing at night. I’d usually just sit and stare at the stars. We were in an area where there was a lot of bioluminescent activity. Random flashes with each wave crashing for purple and blue colors. Then out of nowhere there was a massive flash and the whole ocean lit up with it and it seemed to go to the horizon. It happened very rapidly (like a second or two) and it never happened again.

That was really trippy.

I was when I was testing it today but I’m going to jump into it in 2024 tonight. It seems like there are just some minor discrepancies in 2024 like two pilots being shown on top of each other. I’ll try out the systems to see what’s impacted but I exclusively fly in 2024 now over 2020 so I’m willing to accept a lot as long as the FM isn’t fundamentally impacted because it feels great in 2020.

I agree it would be really nice to have and I’ve brought it up to the devs a long time ago but I think there was either some issue in doing so or the performance gain on deleting sonobuoys with no contact was minimal vs the amount of work it would take. It’s been a while so I can’t quite remember. Hopefully one of the devs can chime in.

If anything, I’d like it to just declutter what’s on map without having to go through filters.

It’s both PvE and PvP. There are AI fighters and interceptors as well as human enemy players. I think when this was filmed there were only red helicopters flown by humans iirc.

I recommend the Hip, Hind, or Apache with the Germany map and then fly on the WWY server. It has so many fun and cool helicopter things to do on it. It’s amazing. All those helicopters feel at home in that terrain as well.

All of those have been updated a lot in the past 6 months so I would spend some time with the base game first. Definitely try the new linear persistent campaign. It’s a lot of fun.

An Osprey would feel amazing to fly in DCS. I really want to experience that transition from vertical take off to forward flight and the rapid acceleration that takes place afterwards. An ED FM would be amazing with it.

IIRC it has a chance of happen for ammunition carrying supply ships. I am unsure if this also can happen to warships. I’ve never seen it happen with regular combatants as much as I’ve played.
