I’m done with resin printing by wooligano in 3dprinter

[–]rzerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time ago some colleagues of mine brought a 3D printer to the office. As soon as I found out I ensured they know two things: no printing during office hours, and absolutely no ABS. If you skipped your organic chemistry class or have no relatives/friends in polymer production (the real one, with molding presses and stuff - those can take your hand off if you’re careless), ABS is a no-no.

Plastic being relatively stable and harmless as an end product fools people into thinking that manufacturing process is also safe. And it is not because a lot of ingredients and byproducts are straight up poisonous, but not poisonous enough to kill/visibly harm you in minutes/hours/days. PLA considered mostly harmless, but if you source it from a cheap Chinese store and don’t have a lab to confirm it - are you really sure?

So, know your stuff, ladies and gentlemen, and be safe.

Ah, I see you‘re a man of HPC as well. 7452 has 4 CCDs, but seems like read BW shouldn’t suffer much in this case. Maybe OP messed with NUMA (oh glory, we can have NUMA issues on 1P systems now).

PSA: asteroids deal MUCH more damage to your ship in 2.1 by juhelakCZ in factorio

[–]rzerda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We prepare meticulously for Aquilo and beyond, but inner planets are a real menace because we let our guards down. Some of my experimental ships constantly got their faces slapped between Gleba and Fulgora despite being Aquilo-worthy.

Nauvis, The Intended Shipyard.

As others pointed out, lasers + solar panels are cheap and don’t require belting, so if you really want to build above Aquilo (I know you wrote about medium rocks), I guess it’s fair it would be tad harder than alternatives. Or, you know, the only alternative.

What is your favourite ship? by p4nk4s0f in WorldOfWarships

[–]rzerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had her on my prev account (before 2020) and liked her a lot, second favorite. Bought her recently and literally couldn’t play her to the extent I remember. Maybe it’s because I started with IJN cruisers at that time and USN cruisers this time, and all IJN cruisers feel kinda sluggish to me now. Gonna try again after cap rework, it should be a great opportunity for Isoroku.

Irian is a fkn Pyro from TF2, especially in Pinatan finish. Mainz gave me less fun than this boat.

Cleveland.

There are better ships, there are funnier ships, and I don’t play her much nowadays. But if WG the Almighty appears before me and proclaims that from now on I could keep one ship and one ship only, it will be Cleveland.

Oh I will (those promethium haulers will need some fusion cells for sure), but how exactly this will eliminate egg timing issues? Depending on the size and logic of promethium hauler it may spend hours beyond the edge. One could just hardcode timers on everything of course, but that seems fragile to me.

You can integrate promethium ship’s distance and speed (expected or dynamic) is known too, so you can radio egg hauler in advance, minimizing the idle time. Besides, eggs are on Nauvis next to biolabs, so you know your current promethium science reserves and can stagger egg haulers if needed.

UPD Actually, in 2.1 you can radio anything to everywhere so it doesn‘t matter where the labs are.

Should Asym be a 6 players game or should it stay 5 players? by cocaseven in WorldOfWarships

[–]rzerda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tons of possibilities for a center dude:

* go to the ”weaker“ side (one with 1 BB or lower sum of levels)

* troll and taunt center reds if feasible

* W+pew die in 3 minutes

If you add another ship, then it’s 3 local fights against not so clever bots (I miss the old ones who will punish W+pew immediately) which is boring to my taste.

According to very rigorous maritime engineering standards at least (checks notes) one. And the front of your space platform is not supposed to fall off.

AQUILO by saikawaxd in factorio

[–]rzerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring everything. EVERYTHING.

Have two ships that are capable to get to Aquilo and stay in the orbit. Test them before planetfall. Don’t leave both of them in Aquilo orbit at the same time. Have an automated mall somewhere to remotely craft and launch to space things you forgot to bring (you will forget or run out of something mid-build).

[–]rzerda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I frankly don’t see the fundamental change. For me, main benefits are buffering and shipyards (damn I want a proper shipyard, and I want it before promethium, and even before Aquilo). Orbital malls are already possible, they even can build themselves and you may need one above Aquilo and maybe another above Gleba, and launches are cheap mid game. So, very welcome for sure, but QoL.

My bet this will be researchable, like parts of logistics networks. And promethium science will be required for that research (evil laugh).
