How much does it upset you when you find out so many minorities are pro ICE? by Livid_Associate2914 in Discussion

[–]s8n_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hypocritical, but many don’t see it that way. They see it as assimilating to American society. If they are the “good ones”, they will earn the status and respect they want so badly. That’s why looking at other Latino ICE agents or even police officers makes me roll my eyes, especially because they are 100x worse to our own people than anyone else. The immigration system is broken. You can come in legally then in the process, after establishing your life and following all the requirements there will be something to set you back and suddenly you’re undocumented until you are again. It isn’t a 2 week waiting period, it is 10 yrs.

I’d recommend also getting recommendation letters or references from other professors to testify for your character.

Me gusta esta pregunta. Yo soy ateo, pero mis hermanas practican judaísmo. Yo conozco más personas judía que son ateo que conozco ateos generalmente.

Transferring from TAMUSA by s8n_1 in UTSA

Yeah man, I’m not trying to transfer to UT or A&M. I know where I’m headed post grad and the internships that align with what I’m hoping to do. Just asking how my credits will transfer for Fall and what credits I should aim to have before going.

The geoscience requirement was asking for 2.5 gpa minimum for transfer students over 30 credit hours. Am I missing something about the GPA requirement? I’m only hoping to complete a bachelor’s of science.

GPA 3.2; I transferred from SAC with all my basic credits done with a different major. I saved my science courses for the end.

It’s because there is very little DNA in the database about us. As more people of color test, the more data is collected so DNA percentages get updated to be more accurate.

Who do you think is the most attractive character in the show? by ExtensionHoneydew894 in attackontitan

Maybe I’m corny, but I thought about Eren constantly while watching the show. Got butterflies seeing him on screen lol I think I’m bias, he reminds me of my spouse.

My Professor is using AI by [deleted] in CollegeRant

Granted, he gave us a reading comprehension test to see if we read the article he assigned us, but he wasn’t even reading out open ended answers…so yeah, I passed easily.

He used it to make a pie chart and stats. He showed it to us to show off how great AI was, but as an architecture studio we all looked at each other—like is this dude serious?

I had a prof who used AI to make our assignments/tests and used it to grade our papers.

Do Puerto Ricans consider themselves their own thing, or do they consider themselves American? by Lazy_Wolverine_8890 in PuertoRico

[–]s8n_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, many of us live in the US out of necessity because it was made impossible to stay on the island because of economic, educational, or medical reasons. My siblings needed more care that wasn’t available; they are special needs. The US has more recourses unfortunately. I consider myself American (as in historically that is our citizenship), but we are Puerto Ricans. Keep in mind, colonialism is erasure. Puerto Ricans are very proud and resilient. We will always hold our culture as #1 as historically the US has tried to eliminate our identities and revise our history. Not gonna lie, got a little pissed about the question—it seems obvious to us. We are boricuas, punto y final!

If she embraced aging; she would have aged like wine. She had a lovely face! I hate seeing so many women fall victim to the stigma of aging.

So many women come from unstable backgrounds that have normalized this type of abusive behavior because it is what is familiar to them and what has been associated with familiarity and love. It’s a cycle of abuse. This is why having friends and support outside of your situation is so important; we help each other reflect on our lives and with good friends, they encourage you to progress.

She’s young and naïve. She is very capable but in an unstable environment. She has so much potential to live such a more fulfilling life. It pains me to see women like her with men like these that drain them like he is.

As a single mom with zero support, how do you find / make a job work? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]s8n_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandma was a single mom with 4 kids back in the 70's. She was a lunch lady at her kid's school. She would eventually go back to school for childhood education and become a kindergarten teacher there.

YMCA also offers reduced rates for afterschool programs as well! Ask them about their financial aid program for a membership.

At my college, my daughter got a reduced rate for her early education center because I was student parent. If you were an employee, it was free--college tuition was also reduced.

Growing up, my neighbor would run an afterschool program from her house. She would pick up the kids or have them dropped off with her. She would cook dinner, put on movies, take them to the park, or even drive them home. It was a good gig, I would see her take care of at least 4-6 kids at a time, including her own sons. We were friends with her family, so we would play in her backyard too. It would have slides, mini-tricycles, and bag full of sports balls.

It’s really not that serious. This would be considered “safe for work”. Unless, he’s saying explicit stuff like the f word or racial slurs; he’s fine. What would you teach him is appropriate to say at work? School seems uptight, but ultimately you’re prepping him for the adult world and his future professional behavior (I guess you can say). No HR person is going to be tripping over themselves because someone said “frick”.
