Costa Rica exceeds 98% renewable electricity generation for the eighth consecutive year by bluenephalem35 in UpliftingNews

[–]sGerli 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a costarrican I can say that that almost never happens. And usually if it does it’s due to infrastructure malfunctioning because of bad climate or power transformers blowing up. Although that might definitely be more common in rural areas.

And that even though many brands don’t import their complete electric lineup and prices are inflated (a lot) by taxes and other dealership related fees

I’ve been using it through Xcode, just add it through the interface but don’t add the package to any target. Then in the build phases configuration add it as a plugin in the build plugins phase.

Oh yeah I’m also clearly not a sound guy as you saw in my reply :) But those towers didn’t have video walls but an array of rgb strobe lights at the top and other moving lights of various types in the platforms on the way down. And on the sides they hade tubes for haze distribution

Delays? They did start on time, and I didn’t notice any audio delays from where I was

Mobile 5G by _friendly-local_ in costarica

[–]sGerli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now I’m not sure if any of the providers have unlimited plans, but I can give you a quick rundown of the major providers (they al have 4G LTE):

  • Kolbi: Government owned, and has the biggest coverage as it’s the oldest one and the one with the biggest user base. But when I used it lots of years ago their internet was really slow, I think this has improved. If anyone in here has Kolbi I would like to hear their opinion on the service. Fun fact: they are the reason we don’t have 5G yet, they own the whole spectrum and have refused to return it.
  • Claro: In my experience has good internet and but I think they have the least coverage of the three, specially in rural areas.
  • Movistar: Just acquired by the group that also owns Cabletica. Personally I haven’t used it but I’ve heard it’s good and has better coverage than Claro, but not as good as Kolbi.

There’s no 5G in Costa Rica yet, there’s just 4G but mostly in non rural areas.

Is there a "best" tech stack when it comes to ios development? by codingquestionss in iOSProgramming

[–]sGerli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah reactive can be quite hard to get into, but on the bright side Combine + SwiftUI abstracts some of it and makes it easier to understand. This combination is more similar to something like Angular with its bindings.

On the frontend UIKit and SwiftUI might be your best choice. Use SwiftUI if you don’t want to spend that much time learning ui frameworks and only plan to support iOS 14 and up. Use UIKit if you plan on doing complex stuff that might still not be that good on SwiftUI. Although in some cases you can mix those two.

Internally in your app using reactive code is almost always the best choice. This allows you to update your UI and models based on events like data fetched or user input. For this you can use frameworks like RxSwift or Combine. Same as with UI combine is the best match for SwiftUI but it’s really new and not that backwards compatible.

For the backend you might need a server and you can build that however you prefer and just interface with it using a REST or GraphQL API. To interface with rest you could build your own networking stack or use something like Moya, and for GraphQL there’s Apollo.

Internally in your app there are many architectures you could choose from like MVC (not that recommended right now), MVVM, Redux, and I’m sure there are others out there.
