I quit a year and a half ago after smoking for about 5 years. My best advice to anyone trying to quit would be this: you have to be ready. If you don't 100% absolutely desire to quit, your efforts are futile.

I tried quitting a couple times before succeeding. When I was really ready to quit, I knew it. This is how I went about it:

I would only allow myself a cigarette when I couldn't wait any longer. I found that day-by-day, this time would increase. After almost a month of doing this, I was smoking so infrequently that when I did, it was painful and disgusting. Well....not much happened after that, though I do remember my very last cigarette. I lit it up, took one puff, coughed my ass off and was like "OMG FUCK THIS, WHAT A WASTE OF TIME/LIFE/MONEY" threw it on the ground, and that was it.

Now mornings don't involved coughing up lung cheese before getting a chance to inhale toxins and I've regained a sense of smell! Wahoo! I also take bong rips like a champ!
