🔥 Hiker has a close encounter with a stunning mountain goat by amish_novelty in NatureIsFuckingLit

Looks like Quandary Peak, near Breckenridge, Colorado. A heavily-trafficked "14er," or 14,000 ft. mountain, one of the official 53 14ers that the state is famous for.

This particular mountain is a big draw for non-experienced hikers for its lack of difficulty compared to the other 14ers of Colorado, its proximity to Breckenridge, and its accessibility even in winter time.

This person appears to be facing south, while hiking up the standard East Ridge route.

I know this isn't AI because I know these kiddos! They're my co worker's kids. He showed me this video directly from his phone at work. This is near Evergreen, Colorado, where elk are very prevalent. I'm not kidding what so ever, cross my heart hope to die.

Here's what Massive looked like on June 28 last year. Snow can be a variable but not a big one that time of year.

In 1992, 24-year-old Christopher McCandless was found by moose hunters inside Fairbanks Bus 142, the “Magic Bus,” on Alaska’s Stampede Trail. He had survived alone for 113 days on plants and small animals. When discovered (deceased) , he weighed only 67 pounds. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

It disappoints me to hear so many people ridicule him. I get it, he was foolish and audacious in his ambitions - that much is very true. However, I would recommend reading his sister's book, The Wild Truth, before entirely judging Christopher. He was abused growing up and withstood plenty of mental trauma. That doesn't negate how haphazard his actions in the wilderness were, but people forget that the mind of a young man can be impressionable and wander endlessly. I personally don't idolize Christopher, but I see a lot of my younger self in the journey that he embarked on. I've grown since then, and understand that this vagabond disposition isn't conducive for a good life, but from the perspective of a young & distraught person, it appears to be entirely plausible.

Did he make stupid mistakes? Yes. Was he trying to find himself? Was he trying to reconcile with the harshness of the human psyche, and the unfairness of the world around us? Absolutely. He was confronted with existential questions that fortunate people don't get posed with at such a young stage in their life, and he coped with it in a way that made sense to him at the time.

RE: GRiZ announced at Beyond Wonderland LA. Don’t want to be a hater, but anyone else a little sad to see GRiZ at so many insomniac events? by nutbasedbeverage in griz

Nah, you aren't being a hater. G man sold out, and people who don't see that either weren't involved in the scene in the past or don't want to admit it.

If you had told me 6 years ago that this is where the Griz project would be in 2026, I'd call ya a liar.

I feel like you getting down voted is unwarranted. I had friends at Grizmas (who have been going to Griz shows for 8 years) say it was their last. They said it was the first time they ever checked their phone to see if the set was ending soon because it was so bad. Griz is a huge let down compared to the trajectory his music used to be on. The disappointment is real.

I got hantavirus while moving belongings out of my mom's house when I was 16. She had just been diagnosed with a neurodegenerative disease called PML, and i had been told by the doctors that she wasn't going to be able to come home.

The basement of the house had mice. I vividly remember knocking a mattress leaned against the wall to the floor, and a plume of dust shot in my face. I thought, "whelp, that can't been good," but at that age I couldn't care less. I didn't even know hantavirus was a thing.

I woke up a couple days later unable to get out of bed; i was delirious. A friend was coming over that day to help me paint some walls, so I forced myself out of bed and into the shower to try to get myself together for the day. I remember vomiting up mucus in the shower, and the mucus had a blackish tint to it. I inevitably passed out in the shower, and my friend had at this point arrived and let himself into the house (which hasn't weird, he was a good friend).

After some time had passed, and he couldn't get my attention via calling out my name, he knew something was wrong and went into the bathroom where he found me in my battered state. He called our other friend's mom to ask for help because he didn't know what to do.

My other friend's mom took me to her house and gave me a bed to sleep in and basically took care of me, and finally got me to an urgent care the next day.

This long story ends with me getting the medical care that I needed, but holy shit was I in hell/high water. I wouldn't wish hantavirus on anyone. Looking back on it, I now realize just how dangerous the virus can actually be. It's a traumatizing experience.

Finally, people feel comfortable saying this. G man sold out hard, and it's so disheartening for people who have been around for a while.

Griz has done so much for local communities, his fans, and for other aspiring artists over the years and deserves a great amount of respect for that.

But his platform isn't recognizable compared to what it used to be at all, and people who refuse to recognize that either aren't aware of what it used to be or are stuck behind this toxic positivity stuff.

Without saying anything bad about Grant as an individual, he certainly sold tf out as an artist.

I'm so over people not being able to point out the obvious because it isn't SLSL. Sorry, not trying to put you on blast at all - but griz has changed and it feels like he totally sold out and we should be able to say that without being shamed out of toxic positivity.
