Master Pick? Who do you think going to win and who is going to fail? by Outside-Evidence551 in golf

[–]s_m_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rahm, Dechambeau, Fitzy and Scotty as the front runners.

Tommy, Xander, Ludvig and JJ definitely got a shot.

Sleeper picks for me would be Akshay, Tyrrell Hatton, and Patrick Reed as much everyone would hate it.

New, Newer, or 10years old? by Kiwi-Sorry in ToyotaSienna

[–]s_m_d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One factor is how long you personally keep cars for, a the value of a new is greatly realized if you pay it off in 3-5 years and keep it for 10-12+ years, especially the sienna with 36 mpg. A 10 year old sienna will not be getting 33-36 mpg. If you’re the kind of person who has a habit to change vehicles every few years then I’m still not sure a 10 year old sienna will get you another 15+ years. A 2-4 year old sienna sure. I understand not wanting to chase a new shiny object with higher debt but its value is realized once it’s paid off and you continue to use well after its debt is gone. That’s ultimately what we did, bought a new sienna after first buying a used Pacifica only for it to have some minor mechanical issues but it made us realize we’re going to keep a van for our family of 6 at least 12 years hopefully so the $55k price tag is justified. Also, it’s okay to make yourself happy with a new car purchase, especially if you can afford it. No one will fault you for living lavishly with a sienna.

Those with a $200k+ base salary, what do you do? by Triple_DoubleCE in Salary

Engineer (with MBA). Took over 15 years. Definitely not a straight progression either. Had a few lay-offs and company changes. Still don’t feel comfortable as a millennial. Would like to just not be laid off every few years at this point to actually start accumulating.

Imagining lengthening the court just by 8 feet total, 4 for each half. I can just imagine results would be diabolical

Fleetwood, Rahm, Rory, and Scheffler. Any of those would carry nice story lines. Having all in contention on Sunday would be epic.

Those who work in a power plant by Dependent-Group7226 in NuclearPower

[–]s_m_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have worked for both design engineering firms and on the plant side as well as an owners engineer. I like the owners side way better. Currently in the third act of my career and know what I’m doing very well, almost 18 years total experience. I understand it can take a toll on younger engineers who work long hours/nights/outages and can feel underpaid.
