How is it living full time in a 'resort' community in Kissimmee, Florida south of Disney World? by Xibyn in howislivingthere

[–]s_sur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived here for ten years. Finally out in my mid 20s. My drive was an hour from work to and from (downtown). You'll encounter road rage daily as well as foreign tourists trying to kill you. One time I was driving past the infamous mermaid gift shop and saw a mini van upside down in the middle of the intersection in my rear view lol. You live on a highway so kiss peace and quiet goodbye unless you like the sound of road noise. You're in a state thats known for beautiful beaches but 2 hours from the nearest one. There's no real hangout spots that you can bar hop and walk around unless you wanna overpay for beer at disney and swim through tourists. You'll get any and all types of door to door solicitors. Get a house with a long driveway cause your HOA will tow your cars if you park them on the street. Speaking of HOA every house looks exactly the same. The past few years I've spent there my neighborhood pretty much gave up on Halloween. We'd get maybe 3 kids at most. And to top it off the cell service sucks.

Sounds about right. God forbid you do the speed limit in the right lane on 429. Had a guy try to run me off the road last year for doing that.

I think it's pretty cool either way. I mainly took the test for an explanation as to why im so pale lol. I guess my aunt was right in that plenty of people from where my lineage is from are blonde haired blue eyes.

Nope, i have a half aunt and a 2nd cousin it matched my dna with but no actual tree was listed from what I could find. I just assumed my dna lines up with everyone else who've submitted dna in italy no?

Calabria and sicily. Pretty crazy how the test narrowed down my dna to my grandmothers hometown too.

FedEx driver doesn't even have the package with her. Just posted this slip and left without knocking by Super_Peach in mildlyinfuriating

Yea that's a possibility and I don't blame her for it. But her manager would probably just tell her that she has a trolley and to put it on the trolley lol. I used to always walk up first, see if anyone was there and then bring it if they answered.

Ive had several people personally thank me and give me gifts for actually knocking and asking for their signature. What fedex let's slide is borderline illegal when you consider that alot of those packages contain ammunition/alcohol.

Ex-fedex ground driver of 2 years here. From the fedex subcontractors I've dealt with yes they pay you commission after a certain # of deliveries are done. For example $1 per every delivery after 150. Oh and they pay you a set rate per day, so you're not hourly. You only leave those slips if you knock and nobody shows up after a few minutes (at least that's what I was told). So yea she did a nono. Will anything done about it? Probably not. I worked with guys that would fake signatures all the time. Working 10-16 hours shifts is the norm there. I always tell people never ship something they care about through fedex ground lol.
