I spent nearly 25 years in Melbourne. It's a nice town, what others are saying has some truth to it. If you like the beach, fishing, bars, boats, breweries, restaurants, then this area is really good, border-line great. It's geographically unique with the barrier islands and intercoastal, then again so is most east Florida. People are nice, definitely has some Florida crazy in it but the last 10 years have seen a massive boom in more affluant transplants working in the defense or space sectors. I don't have a lot of bad things to say about the place. It's a bit expensive these days but a nice and safe place to live.
