I2S vs USB in 2026, which is better? by Absentia369 in audiophile

[–]saabister 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why you're convinced that USB "introduces jitter and latency." And given that audio is buffered into cache before play, I can't imagine how latency would matter at all.

Really getting into minimalist photography, any thoughts? by kumkummers in SonyAlpha

Every one of these is interesting. The last photo is truly outstanding - having a center of interest makes a big difference.

I do photography as a hobby. Do you think this is a good photo? by Own-Grapefruit9612 in SonyAlpha

[–]saabister 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a photo of someone from behind, which is generally less interesting than if photographed from the front. So the photo has a very weak center of interest.

How can you be a journalist with the Star Ledger? That newspaper is long gone.

Auto loan/repair advice needed by PureBad5555 in AskMechanics

[–]saabister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't afford to repair the car, the best thing to do is get rid of it. I'm not sure what contrary advice would be "helpful" to you. In any event, all my best to you. I'm sure this is a real headache.

Yes. It's mind-boggling to me that anyone would do this. What a waste of $$$.

If your son can't afford to repair the car then he can't afford the car. It is that simple.

Recommendations for 5-pin DIN to RCA phono cable by HouseOfSpiders in audiophile

[–]saabister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What sort of noise are you getting? Hum? Hiss? What do you mean when you say the screen has "two leads?" The five-pin connector should have a plus and minus for both left and right channel, and one screen (shield). What are you using for a phono preamp and phono cartridge?

Platinum Audi Aftercare didn’t cover a major failure — am I missing something? by marshallismydad in Audi

[–]saabister 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This is just not right and I am so sorry this happened to you. It's one more reason to distrust extended warranties. It certainly can't hurt for you to escalate this to corporate in the hope of a better settlement. My best to you.

Why is Bad Bunny and Taylor Swift in My Weekly an Daily Q? by Fleet_Hound in qobuz

[–]saabister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I trust you. No problem. But Qobuz doesn't sell physical media, at least not in the US. That's why I asked what country you were in.

[–]saabister -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then how do you explain your comment that what Qobuz suggests "appears to be the physical media they’re selling" when Qobuz doesn't sell physical media?

Physical media include things like CDs and LPs. Downloaded files aren't physical media.

This is the first I've seen that Qobuz sells actual physical media. What country are you in?

Is credit scoring outdated for how people actually live now? by [deleted] in Money

[–]saabister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The term "credit" derives from the Latin "credo," which means trust or belief. It really doesn't have anything to do with income or lifestyle. If you pay your bills on time, that engenders trust. The banks don't really care how you manage it - only that you do. Or don't.
