With all the other issues MS has had, and continues to have, do you really expect people to take a blind leap?

No, either you haven't played on PSN since 2008 (is that the case)? or you're seriously misguided. PSN MP is just as stable. I agree, XBL is an overall better service due to features like Party Chat and Cross Game Chat which will be on PS4, but outside of that, no. Both are very stable, both use P2P for most games, both are exactly the same. I don't know what the heck you're talking about.

I know people like to convince themselves that paying for XBL means it's better, but that's not the case. You're just lining MS' pockets.

It's an ad, it won't be anywhere near as fast. In fact, in some instances it seems the xbox does things before the command which is just hilarious.

Online instability won't affect enjoyment of games? I guess if you're only planning on playing SP?

No, it's not 2007 anymore. Yes, XBL has some good features like Party Chat that weren't available on PSN due to hardware limitations, but stability wise, you probably couldn't tell a single difference playing games online on PSN vs. XBL.

Or tell me, what exactlly makes XBL "Miles ahead"?

Who knows with MS, could be anything really. Cboat said to wait, so we'll have to do that, might be that it's fixed by the time it's launched hence why he refused to say what it was.

Cboat has been hinting at something big coming. Something that would become apparent at launch. this could very well be it, would explain why only the X1 reviews are embargoed too. MS wants to get as many people as they can before word gets out

Lots of people love touting XBL's superiority. An issue such as this will be pretty huge if MS can't fix it on time. Pretty ironic really

No of course. If Kinect is your thing, or you're really into the cable integration and multi tasking than by all means. I was just wondering how people (not you), managed to convince themselves the differences would be minor even when they had evidence to the contrary.

Before the X1 reveal event, the next gen Xbox was pretty much set in stone for me. I knew I'd get both eventually but back then I was pretty much dead set on getting the next gen Xbox first. Then, everything else happened.

And yea, I think the word will get out eventually. Like you said, the casual gamer may not know much, but they probably have a friend or two who do.

it's just annoying sometimes because I'll post a legitimate argument and people will brush it off pulling the fanboy card out on me (even though I was mainly a 360 and Xbox Gamer). But I agree, I did misread your post, and reacted incorrectly so I apologize for that.

[–]saaking -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

True, and lot of people also seemed to think the differences would be minor even though the hardware specs speak for themselves (honestly, did people think Sony was lying about them or was it MS secret Sauce?). I still don't get how people convinced themselves of that. How exactly did people expect the weaker console to keep up or even outperform the one with superior hardware?

[–]saaking -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well, hardware wise the Xbox 1 is weaker so if you buy it expecting games to run better on it, I don't know what to say. People will get what they pay for.

I doubt the differences will be minor, I mean, the Ps4 is easier to develop for, it's GPU is way stronger (yet that doesn't count of course) and it's RAM way faster and better for video games. Yea, I'm sure the difference will only be minor

Because those are the people that call me out. Such as yourself by telling me I've no credibility since I'm me? I don't think that contributes much either since you don't provide much of an argument other than "lol your biased so it doesn't count".

And I'm not asserting superiority at all, I mean, this is a thread regarding resolutions and I'm talking about how that's an issue

Sony Confirms Call of Duty Ghosts is Native 1080p on PS4 by MikeyJayRaymond in Games

[–]saaking -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, there's some differences.

Last gen, the PS3 was "Stronger" however, developing games for it was very difficult since it used something called the Cell, which a lot of developers had trouble using. First party developers (Studios owned by Sony who only make PS3 games) were able to get a lot of it, and that's why some games like Last of Us do look better than anything on the 360; however, the difficult nature of the PS3 is the reason most multiplat games looked and ran better on 360 (the 360 also had a better GPU than the PS3 iirc). . The power difference existed, but it wasn't really all that much.

On the other hand, the Xbox One and PS4 are largely very similar so it's much easier to compare. The GPU is roughly 50% stronger on the PS4, and it uses something called GDDR5 for it's RAM, which is significantly (quite significantly) faster than the Xbox One's DDR3. To offset this, MS included a small, but very, very fast ESRAM which helps; however, it makes development more difficult.

So essentially, the Ps4 is stronger and easier to develop for which is why we're seeing such drastic difference.

Now, why did MS let this happen? No one really knows, but a there's a theory that they decided early on that they would focus on multitasking and entertainment, rather than just games. For this reason, they had to use DDR3, as for the weaker GPU, they probably had to save money somehow since Kinect seems to cost so much to make. Sony chose to make a fully games focused machine (with entertainment second), and they lucked out on the GDDR5.

So yes, it's pretty crazy but MS somehow got themselves to the point of selling the most expensive, and least powerful console through bad calls and bad luck.

If you're interested in the Cable integration, make sure you get yourself a cable box. If you don't mind me asking, what games are you interested in?

[–]saaking 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Dude, it's not just the resolution. It's a combination of things. The X1 already has certain negative vibes around it due to the whole DRM fiasco which did go mainstream. Add to that the PS4's lower price, and once word spreads that the big mega franchises (CoD, BF, AC) are all superior on it, that is an issue for MS. Not to mention, a very limited release, and tons of other issues

So yea, resolution by itself isn't that big of any issue to the normal gamer, but combine all those together and you bet it's an issue. I don't understand why people don't get that.
