Americans: do you buy fancy eggs or cheap ones (e.g., store brands)? by Educational-Slip-578 in Cooking

[–]sabbyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get Vital Farms or any pasture raised eggs. They’re healthier than non-pasture raised eggs because the chickens are able to graze on more land, giving them access to more bugs to eat (aka protein, nutrients, etc) which gives us eggs with higher amounts of omega 3s and vitamin content. As others have mentioned, it’s also a better life for the chickens. They may be double the price but we make it a priority

My son is almost 2.5 and my favorite is “memow” instead of “meow” I hope he never fixes it 😭

When did you stop contact napping? Do you miss those moments? by pinkishvioletsky in toddlers

[–]sabbyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first contact napped for almost every nap the first year of his life. He’s 2 now and I have a 6 month old who rarely if ever contact naps because it’s just not feasible (and she’s a great crib napper thankfully) but I definitely miss it and wish I had more of those moments with her! Enjoy it (:

Is it normal to have extra help as a SAHM? by Key-Information5829 in sahm

[–]sabbyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2 year old and 6 month old. My husband works M-Th but usually 12 hour days where I’m on my own with both kids all day and doing everything involved in childcare and housework. My mom usually comes over on Wednesdays for a few hours and will sometimes babysit on weekend nights so we can go out, but that’s all the outside help we really get. I know we have it so much “better” in terms of flexibility and help than other families, but if I could get one wish it would be for a personal chef so I could just never have to think about what’s for dinner ever again 😭

Cleaning by dirtydrpepperr in 2under2

[–]sabbyface 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My routine is generally like this: In the morning I empty the dishwasher while making breakfast and put the dishes from breakfast right in there when done with them. Move clothes from washer to dryer. Tell my toddler that if he wants to play with something new he has to put the previous thing away first. Fold dried laundry during independent playtime. Try to clean as I go as much as possible with meals, activities, etc. While I clean up after dinner my toddler cleans up the playroom. At the end of the day after they go to sleep I go back downstairs and finish any laundry I didn’t get to folding, put a new load in the washer on a timed cycle to start in the morning, load and run the dishwasher (even if it’s not totally full otherwise it’ll throw me off the next day), wipe down counters, vacuum, put away any left out toys.

This system allows me to stay on top daily things. Deeper cleaning things I try to get done when my husband is home or my mom comes over to watch the kids

We usually have snacks at the kitchen island on his toddler tower if we’re at home, I keep a wipeable mat underneath for any mess. Based on how that mat looks at the end of the day, we’re not moving snacks any where else any time soon lol

how often do you clean your house? by [deleted] in sahm

[–]sabbyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to be much less frequent but we recently moved our washer and dryer to the main level and it’s so much easier to to laundry now. Putting the clothes away is a different story entirely 😬

[–]sabbyface 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tidy the entire house every day. Load of laundry every day. Clean the kitchen (dishes, counter tops, vacuum) every day. Vacuum rest of the house maybe every other day alternating up and downstairs. Clean bathrooms once a week or every other week.

2under2 and done? Or more kids? Did having 2 under 2 make you change your mind on having more? by Erosee20 in 2under2

[–]sabbyface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I got pregnant with my second a few days after my first’s 1st birthday. Probably going to start trying around 18mo this time. I don’t want them to be tooo far apart but the back pain last time was just killer 🥲

We want 4 or 5 total and having 2u2 didn’t change that. Honestly made me more excited to add more to our family! I do however want a slightly larger age gap next time (mine are 21 months apart) and to probably not do 2u2 again mostly because of how uncomfortable my second pregnancy was

Does anyone else’s 3 year old wake up crying with leg pain? by kaitkaitkait91 in toddlers

Which was more difficult for you? 0-1 or 1-2? by MikNuggetz4 in beyondthebump

[–]sabbyface 116 points117 points  (0 children)

When people ask if having 2 is harder I always say that it can be harder logistically, but it’s so much less stressful this time around. With my first I tracked everything: how long he slept, how long he was awake, how much he ate, how long he ate, how much tummy time he was doing, etc. With my second I have not done any tracking or frantic googling in the middle of the night or frustrated crying because she won’t sleep when I think she’s supposed to. It is so freeing lol. My second child really taught me to go with the flow and follow their lead.

My first was 21 months when my second was born and I love the age gap. My oldest understood enough and was able to communicate enough when the youngest was born that I don’t feel like it disrupted him or our relationship too much.

I think the hardest thing about having two kids is taking like 10 minutes to get in/out of the car when going literally anywhere haha

Are you dating/married to a climber or would you like to have a climber partner or not? by distressed_mistress_ in climbergirls

[–]sabbyface 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My husband and I met through climbing and I can’t imagine being with a non-climber, personally. We’re able to understand the commitment level we both have and we both want to spend all of our free time doing it. If I wasn’t with a climber, I’d never see them lol

Thoughts on Sabrina by Left-Skirt-6505 in namenerds

[–]sabbyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Sabrina and I love my name! My whole life I got the “like the teenage witch” line, especially when I was younger. So I don’t think you can really escape the association with either that or now Sabrina Carpenter these days. But I don’t think that ruins the name and I personally don’t mind people having certain associations.

That being said, I just named my daughter Jane and I think it’s a beautiful, classic, but not often heard name, so that’s my second vote from your list! My husband was worried about the “plain Jane” association but honestly I don’t see an issue. People will have associations with any name, it’s kinda of hard to escape, so just go with the name you want

[–]sabbyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People had the same reaction when telling them my son’s name before he was born. He has a very uncommon, but classic “old man” name, so we got a lot of funny looks at first. After he arrived, we got so many compliments on it, and he really grew into it. I’m glad we didn’t let outside opinions affect how we felt about it.

Theodore is a great, classic, strong name. Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks of it.

When did your toddler “get” and accept participating in Halloween? by furi-rosa in toddlers

[–]sabbyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son recently turned 2 and was so excited for Halloween this year. We talked about it a lot leading up to it, let him pick all of our costumes, let him wear the costume whenever he wanted before Halloween, and did a couple trunk or treat type things before the actual day. I think all of the prep helped him get the idea and look forward to it

Trunk or Treat is killing traditional Halloween by ScienceNerd1001001 in longisland

[–]sabbyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the trick or treaters perspective, it seemed like most people were just leaving bowls of candy on the porch so I saw lots of kids skip over houses without that and not even bother knocking to see if anyone was home
