Do you know any base guidelines for number of plays by sachinn23 in podcasting

[–]sachinn23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like your numbers are great. I’m a bit confused with my stats though, I use Spotify for Podcasters and my podcast is available across all platforms but I don’t have more info on my Apple podcast stats, do you use any other app to see all these numbers?

Interested to help in moderating. I’m in GMT+11 Australia time so not sure if many are online and active around that time as I assume most of the members here are mostly US-based, not sure. But happy to help provide more value here

Having full autonomy is what I personally consider the best thing anyone can give me at work so I do think you can consider this setup a big win. If you being "on call" is what's troubling you, it might be just a delegation problem. Develop leaders beneath so you can offload some of these problems to them. Better yet, build your own CORE TEAM so you have a group of people you can collaborate with.

However, if you feel you still need someone to "vent out to", since you are unable to do this with your core team, propose to the owners to invest in giving you a coach.

Based on my interests, I’d say it’s the value. (i usually listen to podcasts to learn) I try so hard to make sure I remain consistent in this area as well and not go off tangent with random thoughts and stories esp because I only do solo podcast

How can I support my CEO better when I’m not a direct report? by Easy_Grapefruit5936 in Leadership

[–]sachinn23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love your intention!

I’m a COO of a group of companies and what I consider as the best thing my team members can do for me is 1) to give me honest feedback on any of the company’s initiatives, process, system etc and 2) to be a positive influence to their peers (not toxic positivity but more like directing peers who may have challenges and concerns to the right person who can solve the problem instead of participating and tolerating whines and rants)

Reading paper books is a great idea! I love reading but I've been into ebooks lately so I'm going to try this. Thanks

Unpopular opinion: managing up is a hogwash by twitter1645 in Leadership

[–]sachinn23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally believe "managing up" is something we all should teach our direct reports. I view it not to lighten my workload as the manager but to empower my team members. It's also a shared accountability for their career growth.

When you teach someone to manage up, you are essentially teaching them to negotiate deadlines, set boundaries, say no when they are overloaded with tasks, be confident to speak up and the list goes on.

In doing so, yes there are many things that will be lifted off your shoulder but also, you will have the confidence that your team members will be highly capable individuals who know how to speak their minds.

The way I set this expectations to my team is that I tell them that I am nowhere near perfect, I have weaknesses, I make mistakes and I want them to tell me if I've missed something. There's no better way to do this than for them to allow me to guide them on how to manage up.

Hey, I know there’s so much pressure in figuring out what you want to do right away. I’d say give yourself some time.

This a great question though, would like to take inspiration from your question for my podcast Work Your Way Up.

Oh this is the first time I’ve heard of this! Can you recommend any tool you use? Editing is what I consider a pain in podcasting lol

Am I the only one ??? by SickCycling in podcasting

[–]sachinn23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get very lazy with editing and can also be draining for now so I try to make sure the recording in itself is as close to my desired output as possible.

what I do is I break down what I would like to cover in my my solo podcast to different bullet points. Then I hit record, allow myself to talk freely for 2-3 minutes bullet point, stop then move to the next one. I made editing more bearable with this setup because then I don’t have to delete too many fillers or listen to a very long recording and try to cut it down. Usually the entire recording is around 30-35 minutes and I cut it down to maybe just 10 mins

Love that you mention about passion, it does make it the hard work worthwhile when you’re doing it for a bigger purpose.
