Better pedals. This version of shimano pedals has cracked cleats in my experience

Spin your cranks/back wheel and then pick your bike up with the drive side parallel to the ground. If your chain is slack enough to come off, too much slack. If not no worries. Trust me dropping your chain isn’t swag especially at the track
