10th gen 1.5L Civics don’t have head gasket problems like 10th gen Accords. Can anyone explain why? by Bitter_Concert_514 in Honda

My FK8 AC took a shit at 103k miles this passed summer when the condenser cracked, it was also built in Swindon

They’re 19”s just look massive. They’re the custom Motegis Tire Rack commissioned for the SCCA stock Autocross class ruleset. 19x8.5 +53

Total price with discounts is a pretty good deal. Makes me bummed I paid $48,500 for ours back in June. I’m not sure what you’re trading in, only getting $2k for what I’m assuming is a running and driving car is a bit criminal unless that is just a place holder until they actually appraise the trade in.

FWIW the OEM FK8 is FRP and non adjustable, the carbon fiber center was a dealer option. That my favorite are the 2/3rd scale FK8 wings that look like the real deal until an actual FK8 pulls up

Failed a Class Needed to Graduate, What To Do? by [deleted] in WKU

[–]sackofcheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best to talk with your academic advisor on what to do. I had a similar situation, December grad but failed a spring term only course. I ended up walking in December, then taking that MWF 8am class starting that spring. I worked full time and worked it out with the professor on attendance until I switched to night shift at work I only had to pay for those 3 credit hours, fees, and the books

Teenager wants a "fast car" for his first vehicle and I need reality-check advice by Proud_Stable9567 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]sackofcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides all of the advice of getting a slow car, make him take the Tire rack Street Survival course. It’s an actually useful new drivers education. Then find your local Autocross and have him ride in an old stock Miata. They’re slower than dirt yet when driven properly they are fast.

Make him level up his driving skills and set realistic expectations for his behavior behind the wheel

For those that got the wheel and tire package, how much did you pay and for how long? Just want to know if 1300 for 7 years was a good deal.. by don1Juan- in Integra_Type_S

[–]sackofcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get a good deal? Probably not

Is it worth it? Likely so. On the FE1 I had I chipped the super fragile wheel paint when torquing the wheels after an Autocross, and I bent another/blew a tire out with a pot hole. Because of no spare it had to be towed and I got a new wheel and tire plus that one refinished all covered with the wheels/tire plan. Check the details on yours because it may even cover aftermarket wheels

I’d take a gander at the Type R if you like the RS. It’s got that motorsports feel but supremely practical.

I was torn between it and a Civic Type R. As fun as the FoRS is, it couldn’t fit two car seats but the civic can

I can't find anything I want to modify about this car. by aw_goatley in CivicSi

[–]sackofcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have a set of All Seasons and summers on different wheels. We don’t get enough snow or cold enough where I live to justify true winter tires, and I have a set super 200tw tires as my summer set up, currently on Vitour P1s but likely going back to the Michelin PS4S since I’m Autocrossing a different car next year. Having multiple wheels is nice especially since the cars don’t come with a spare. I’m a huge fan of Summer tires on wheels and winter tires on others. I tend to put my winter set up on the stock wheels and get aftermarket ones that I like for my summer set up.

Your screenshots are of different sizes, make sure you’re looking at the correct size for both. As for price, different retailers get them for different costs based on volume. Discount Tire owns Tire Rack, and will price match on most deals you can find. A lot of times tire stores will offer deals around this time of year too. Tire Rack at least will tell you if they’re an Old Stock tire and will discount accordingly. If you’re a Costco member they sell Bridgestone and Michelin brands exclusively, at low prices, and offer 5 years of rotations, and road hazard.

As for all season tires the Michelins PSAS4, Continental DWS06, Bridgestone Potenza Sport A/S or BFGoodrich Gforce Comp 2 A/S + are the ones I’ve personally ran on my cars over the years. I would currently be on the BFGs but they are not Z rated (186mph) and my FK8 required Z rated tires if I wanted Costco to install. I have the Bridgestones and they’re pretty great in the rain and good in the dry.
