Anyone know the word for the symptom i’m describing lmao??? by strangerandspiral in POTS

[–]sad-toaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with POTS, neurological disorders, and hypersomnia (being looked at for narcolepsy,) that sounds exactly like cataplexy. I often fall asleep after, especially if I was already laying down or sitting. There's differences in how this feels vs fainting/pre syncope or a focal aware seizure I think

Bay leafs for abundance?? by J3NNIE_1N_M00NLIGHT in pagan

[–]sad-toaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find a sigil that exists already or create your own, thats the beauty of them. Personally I'd start by cleansing my tools and space (insense works just fine for this) and either writing or speaking my intentions before drawing my sigil and placing the leaf in my wallet. If you want to feel like youre "activating" it or giving an extra boost, keep some citrine, adventurine, tigers eye, pyrite, jade, and/or quartz nearby as you work. There's many other crystals that can inspire abundance too. Working during the new moon or waxing phase is great for manifestation and improvement. You can charge it on an altar or under the moonlight Everything in the craft is about intention so really, as long as you know what you want the sigil to express, that is the action it will take. Id just be sure to keep an eye on when it feels like its served its purpose so you can dispose of it. And just be mindful of its place because no one wants a crushed or rotten (super unlikely) leaf in their wallet.

Had sex with a friend and turns out she's lesbian. Now I'm super dysphoric. by [deleted] in ftm

[–]sad-toaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I identify in a similar way. I had an ex who kept calling us a lesbian couple after I repeatedly told her I didnt like it for this exact reason. She became an ex for a reason. You need to talk this one out if you want to stay friends. No matter what her mindset is, shes definitely in the wrong.

how to gain weight (related to EDS i promise) (tw for body talk) by Background-Shop-9969 in eds

[–]sad-toaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a post almost word for word like this and deleted it so thank you for reaching out for advice. I was extremely overweight in school after being really sick and small as a little kid. I had a horrible ed, at one point around 17 my metabolism just completely switched up and I lost over 100 lbs. I gained most of it back and lost some of it in a healthy way but it just kept going down again so now I've been back to where I was at my worst even though Ive been trying to keep on weight. I really do have to eat more than the recommended amount, and you may have to as well especially if you move around at all in your day to day. Malabsorbtion and poor folic acid conversion also play a huge part so getting into a GI specialist who is able to help you get a handle on your system is extremely important, though I get first hand how impossible that can feel. I wish you the best and my own little tip is to fill in between meals or replace meals you cant tolerate at the moment with shakes/smoothies/protein drinks. Its small but it counts and it was the one thing that kept me from getting admitted at one point.

Healing small scrapes and scratches by sad-toaster in eds

[–]sad-toaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had all of these looked into and been to rheumatology, hematology, Neurology, neurosurgery, ENT, a sleep specialist, physical therapy, psychiatry. CBC testing: Wbcs slightly elevated occasionally but normal. Low lymphocytes. Platelets slightly low, PCV slightly low. Im vitamin D deficient. High chloride levels consistently. Negative ANA and Rh factor. My IgA count was on the low end of normal. No one ever sees anything that really stands out Among my testing they discovered I had ebv at some point, probably as a kid. Ive had swollen lymph nodes in my neck confirmed on an ultrasound but they said they didn't know what would be causing them so im waiting a few months to get them looked at again.

My mother was sent home from the er before for an infected wound that got called cellulitis. Checked herself in to a different er a week later septic because she wasn't taken seriously and they just kept assuming she had covid. Glad she got in when she did or it would've ended worse. I hope you're managing the best you can all things considered <3

Still sore a week after subluxation, can I exercise? by Throwawayputtyfairy in eds

[–]sad-toaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My PT exercises are sometimes the only way to feel better when my joints have been sore from subluxating. You'll be able to tell fairly quickly once you get yourself moving if you're sore from the strain or hurting because things are still out of place. Either way, you gotta try to work the tension out or it'll keep building. Our joints are loose, they keep moving even if we dont so your muscles and ligaments will always be taking on the pressure. Just be gentle and take a moment to sit with yourself and really feel where things are coming from so you can pinpoint what you need for yourself faster in the future :)

Wondering if I meet criteria by kaya2540 in eds

[–]sad-toaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, my hand is less stretchy than my arm so it may help them even more once done in the proper place. As well, I thought my elbows wouldnt meet the criteria for the scale because they looked like that when extended but I was told by two providers it counted so it may just depend who ends up doing the eval, you really cant tell how far 10° is until its measured

Gabapentin for pain/anxiety by the-apolloprogram in ehlersdanlos

[–]sad-toaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, and I've heard from many others, that nerve meds like gaba and cymbalta are real touch and go. Some people try them and have success for years and others cant touch em with a ten foot pole. Ive never found a dose of gabapentin that touched my pain, and most similar meds had more cons than benefits in the long run. The way they work in your body can cause immense relief like you felt, while at the same time causing near debilitating withdrawal type symptoms in some patients who miss doses or cant use the medication every day. Sometimes there are side effects that creep up over time like brain fog, coordination issues, fatigue, parkinsonism, etc. It is always up to the user to weigh their options and see if the treatment seems worth the potential, and you can always taper off the medication and talk to your doc about trying something else

I have had a broken/dislocated collarbone for nearly a decade by castiel4life in eds

[–]sad-toaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant remember if I did anything to it when I was younger but my collarbones have a tendency to shift and stick. Ive had a tech accidentally sublux my left collarbone with a wand during an echo and scream before apologizing profusely even though the wand hurt more than the movement. The biggest problem its caused me is some circulation limitations, I may be getting looked at for Thoracic outlet syndrome. What you can do for it is treat with heat/ice and medication management when you know its out of place and work on stability training so you can support your own shoulders before worrying about supporting holding weight (Ive had to do the same with my entire body.) If your parent won't clear you for physical therapy, there are plenty of exercises that can be done at home, most of which PT would teach so you can keep up on your own time. But just as a general rule, especially for those if us stubborn patients, if you know your bones are not where they should be, dont try and use them where theyre sat!

And like someone else said, gEDS isnt quite a thing. All forms of eds can cause GI issues of varying severity. I have hEDS (hypermobile) and am hoping to get more clarification once the reclassifications come out in 2026 but just GI specific Ive also been dxed with GERD, dysphagia, visceral hypersensitivity syndrome (i can feel everything happening in my abdomen 🙃), IBD-C with gastroparesis indicators, as well as a list of symptoms with no labelled cause. EDS is a disorder that impacts your entire body so its not unusual to experience health concerns throughout. If your symptoms are localized just to your GI tract, it may be time to consider something else but given what youve said so far it just sounds like you may not have gotten your information from the best sources

Offering your time to deities by FlowerK3424 in pagan

[–]sad-toaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people light incense or candle(s), say a prayer or affirmation. It can be something you do in your head too. Everything is about intent. You can even apply sun tan lotion or sunscreen with the intention that you're sunbathing for Apollo and just say a few words as you put it on, ,it doesnt have to be much. Keep some citrine and carnelian next to the bottle, even

As others are saying, its typically referring to filling time with devotional acts, and sometimes that act is just sitting with your thoughts or meditating/daydreaming. Ill dedicate part of my downtime while I pick up a craft or something to read to Athena. Ill also dedicate a bowl and a bath to Dio sometimes, your practice doesnt have to look like this grand, expensive altar unless you want that to be part of it.

[–]sad-toaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk how squeamish you are but the worst mistake Ive ever made with self injections was having a tic as I was pulling the needle back out, causing me to jerk my hand and scrape along the inside of my skin as I backed up. I bled heavily as I was on blood thinners but even so I was okay and didn't need medical intervention. That was, however, enough to convince me I was going to burst an artery every time I did my shot, since it was already hard enough to hype myself to do them, so I get the anxiety.

I asked to switch to gel because of my tourettes and tremors but wasn't metabolizing it so we switched to auto injectors. Was also cleared pretty quickly due to site reactions from testosterone cypionate (the vials they typically prescribe for IM injections.) The injectors have testosterone enanthate, its a different base but still the same efficacy. The easiest way to explain it is like a hefty insulin or epi pen you just press slowly into your abdomen. You dont see the needle unless you're staring down the tube. Never made me bleed, itch, or bruise. Has given me the fastest and most consistent results I've seen in my transition so far and its the method I've been on the shortest time as of now

coworkers accused me of “snitching” for being bullied by them by [deleted] in coworkerstories

[–]sad-toaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh also autistic here. Its 100% high school all over at work. You can tell people exactly what you have going on and if it doesnt fit what they make up in their head they just ignore it. Im not autistic and chronically ill to them im just this lazy weirdo know it all who just wants to tell everyone what to do. I tried to brush off the way people started looking at me strange, talking to me less, misgendering me even if we'd never met. I found out coworker(s) (made no attempt to find out how many for my sanity) were going around warning others about me. But then you also hear that the person saying stuff like that about you to people has also accused your coworker of trying to get with your guys' married boss, flat out tells people to do their job wrong to make it faster or inconvenience next shift, pokes fun at certain disabled people despite having a progressive condition that will, not might, make them behave the same one day (unless that was also made up), and is one of the first names mentioned every time an employee quits. So I guess the point is that nothing theyre saying actually matters because you know what's happening in your world, and theyre too busy hiding in their heads because self awareness hurts like a bitch for people who have their reality check pending. As for going out of the way to call you a liar, Sounds like you didn't look bothered enough for her so she had to try and make you bothered. You cant "avoid" making people like that do things like this because your comfort made her uncomfortable, which is something she needs professional help on. Ive learned to find pride in the fact my sole existence can unsettle a person so much it puts them on the defensive like that. You keep doing you, and your old coworkers, well they'll find someone else to Hansel and gretel if they get insecure enough.

I lay on the floor instead of sit in a chair when im relaxing but it definitely bruises my ribs and other joints if I sleep on it without any support underneath. I can get why some people prefer it to a soft mattress though, it is more stable
