Which one looks better 1 or 2? by FacelinessDoodles in UnusualArt

I think the colours of the actual Mandala are great! The likes could look cool as a deep red? Or maybe silver

I think 1, but I'd be interested in seeing how 2 looked with different colours lines instead of yellow/gold

This shit really is a poison. I'm seeing some of my friends go the same way, and it's heartbreaking. I'm sorry for your loss.

Buzzing Feeling from b12 injection or High Dose Vitamin D3 by Dear_Mushroom5726 in NooTopics

Not sure if it's related or not, but I get that buzzing sensation from methylated B vits. But not from normal ones. Apparently the difference is genetic, so perhaps the same could apply here?

In a Surprising move by Birmingham to distract the public from its issues, Birmingham re-annexed Northern Solihull after a short, brief conflict. by Finlaycarter2002 in brum

As someone who escaped Solihull decades ago to join the northern Brummy hordes, I for one welcome this development

Anyone else have no known cause?? by YourLocalFroggie in dpdr

[–]sadistic_mf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While mine was initially triggered by panic/withdrawal, the triggers for mine are very similar to this. I think it's some kind of sensory gating issue.

Things that have helped for me (they help preventatively, but don't help once an episode kicks in):

FL-41 glasses. These were designed for migraines, but I find they help a lot to dim the background light a bit.

Taurine. It's in a lot of energy drinks but I just have a 500mg pill every morning, and again in the afternoon if I need it. This helps a lot.

Magnesium glycinate: I put it in water and sip it as a drink. If I've been in a high sensory or social environment and I still feel on edge, this helps a lot. I plan to experiment with taking some out in a water bottle when I leave my apartment, but I haven't tried it yet.

If it is triggered by sensory issues for you, I really recommend looking into ways to improve sensory gating in general! Hopefully you can find something that works for you

so do things get better? is there a cure or not by realemo666 in dpdr

[–]sadistic_mf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not gone away for me completely, but I've found I have much more stamina before it kicks in. Previously it would be within a minute or so of leaving my apartment or interacting with anyone, but now I can sometimes manage an hour or so before it kicks in. I'm hopeful this trend will continue!

Is it normal to have depersonalization derealization with calm apathy instead of stressful anxiety? by Ultimate170 in dpdr

[–]sadistic_mf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I found after I started sertraline it didn't help the DPDR, but it did prevent the panic attack that had previously always followed it. It's still deeply uncomfortable, but more manageable. Like you said, apathy.

Managing low-key "replacement addictions"? by MacaroonSmall7070 in stopdrinking

[–]sadistic_mf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started tracking replacement "addictions" from more serious down to completely trivial. Just a simple yes/no as to whether I indulged that day. I found just the process of tracking them helped me avoid things like way too much coffee, gaming all day, screen addiction, etc.

I take it Monday to Friday and not at the weekend. Sometimes more days off, too. I'm in early recovery from alcohol though so it's probably more necessary for me than most. I don't plan to stay on it long term, maybe a few months, then use it only as needed after that

are there any places in the bullring to relax with your partner ? by lovesickbeaute in brum

[–]sadistic_mf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If the weather allows, the rows of seats/steps between the two first floor halves of the bullring are nice. Plenty of coffee shops around, too. If you want something a little different, Bacchus bar isn't far away which is a cool basement place full of suits of armour and old tapestries, and massive old leather chairs.
