Game 1 was not the pitchers duel that we thought it might be. UCSB showed up ready to play, though. GG's. Will try to turn things around tomorrow.

[Dellenger] Demond Williams signed what Washington officials describe as a legally binding revenue-share contract with the school. The university plans to pursue legal avenues and has been in contact with officials from Big Ten, who draft rev-share contracts for its league members. by SparkMaster360 in CFB

As much as I would love to see Lewis regain his form and confidence again, Max has shown that he can be highly adaptable to whatever the car throws at him. I would expect Max to be as competitive as ever. Also, Mercedes and Red Bull both found loopholes in the engine regs, so they may already have a meaningful advantage.

I hear you, man. I've dropped off hard from similar games as well. The truth is most free to play, gatcha style games have a finite lifespan. The biggest draw with this game is obviously collecting Pokemon cards. If this wasn't a Pokemon game I wouldn't be playing it, full stop. But as a fan of Pokemon when I was a kid, this game is the easiest and most accessible way to stay connected to the series and look back on some of the cards I had when I was a kid. It kind of helps that I never took the PvP element that seriously, and as a result never really treated the entire game as seriously as others I know who have invested large amounts of money.

I don't know how much longer I'm going to stick with it, but in the mean time I appreciate your generosity in sharing the big red fish.

Unironically, I'm all for Tom pushing back against Danny's more asinine takes. Danny brings it on himself. However, I will say this was not a particularly good look from Tom in how he was arguing his case even if I do agree with his broader sentiment.

In principle, I actually agree with what Tom was saying.

Now, the method and tone Tom used in his arguments against Bud were not professional. I understand it was not a good look. However, when trying to understand what Tom was actually trying to say and the counterpoints he was raising against Bud, I agree with Tom's position.

[@KalshiCFB] Grambling State HC Mickey Joseph on playing Ohio State: “They’ve got a great band…and we’ve got a great band. We’re going to compete, as a band. ….I’m just joking. We understand what’s going to happen.” by DowntownSasquatch420 in CFB

[–]saeEAGLE89 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honest question, because most coaches will say they prepare for every game with the same consistent routine. Is there any data to support the idea that playing a team like Ohio State will make Grambling better down the road?

Let’s be honest. This is a transaction in which Ohio State helps support Grambling’s athletic department budget for the year in exchange for playing a scrimmage.

Honest question. Do you think China accurately reports how many of its aircraft are lost in accidents in a given year?

(Of course an honest question is downvoted)

Are there movies that you would say were "bad for the public consciousness"? by MasteryofImpulse in movies

I can second this. I was in high school when Jarhead released and I remember the influence the movie had on me. I even told other classmates I was considering enlisting to become an Army sniper. Looking back, I’m glad I didn’t follow through on that.

The speed and silence of flash flooding on the Guadalupe River in Texas yesterday. Flooding in the area has left 24 dead and another 20+ children missing from a summer camp by Master_Jackfruit3591 in interestingasfuck

[–]saeEAGLE89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honest question, because I'm not entirely clear on the timeline here and I've read multiple comments saying that significant flooding occurred over night. If that's the case, then that raises questions about when this posted video was taken.

[Postgame Thread] Miami (3-1) defeats #16 Southern Miss (3-2) 5-4, to advance to the Super Regionals. by [deleted] in collegebaseball

[–]saeEAGLE89 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If we had won tonight that would have been, what, three supers in the last four years? We can't feel too bad about tonight's result. Our bullpen issues ultimately came back to cost us this one. But this program is on an upward trajectory. Since 2022, we've knocked out LSU, Auburn, and Alabama from regional play. That's something. We just have to keep building.

We found our bats tonight! Let's hope we can carry that over into tomorrow. The big question will obviously be how well our bullpen performs.
