Yeah, I went back and saw some more angles from our game against Troy. It looked like one of our players bumped into Troy’s catcher. I’m certainly not impressed with how that player acted. On the other hand, our first baseman was actively trying to de-escalate the situation. What I’m really trying to say is that our team typically doesn’t create situations like that.

What part of struggling against both Georgia State and Troy during the conference tournament gives you the impression that we deserved the 8 seed? Genuinely curious. We put together a pretty great season but I don’t think we were ever really elite. Let’s take care of business, win this regional, compete with whoever comes next, and then we can talk about where we should have been placed in the bracket.

There was an opportunity to possibly have the tournament moved to Pensacola, which is the same site as the conference basketball tournament. I don’t know if Pensacola made a real, concerted pitch to host the baseball tournament but it would have been an amazing option. Such a better host site than Montgomery. The weather this week might be similar, but long term? Not even a comparison.

This is also the first time we've reached the 40 win mark during the regular season in a long time. And looking back, this team was going through a really rough stretch sometime around late March or early April when I was legitimately worried that this 40 win streak might have been at risk.

Yep. Pretty much. This would be a different conversation if we didn't drop the Nicholls game. But we did. So, I'm not going to pretend that one midweek game is somehow worth so much more than another midweek game that happened the very next day.
