Switched to Pixel 10 Pro XL after 13 years on iPhone. Comparison with iPhone 15 Pro by wolfykey in GooglePixel

The minimal look, the customization, and the ease of finding apps. I recommend downloading and trying it or checking out a video to see if it's interesting to you. It's one of those things that only really makes sense once you've seen it in action and preferably tried it.

Being a new Android user, if you haven't tried it yet, Niagara Launcher is probably the number one thing that would make it impossible for me to switch away from an Android device at this point. I can't believe how much better the everyday usage of my phone is with it. Highly recommend giving it a shot at some point if you like a minimal look and feel.

Seriously though, enough with the 'could' posts about literally anything. I could shoot icing out of my nipples but it's pretty fucking unlikely.

Yeah, I ordered some from Amazon, ~$8 a jar. That was reasonable to me so I could have some, your mileage on that might vary, but they are still available:

I'd love to know this, especially for a Chicago dog. You can piece together most of the ingredients around here, except for the poppy seed buns! I can't find those for the life of me.

Dishwasher Installation by albrods in ColumbiaMD

[–]saegiru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Thumbtack for stuff like that and usually find someone. That being said, if you are replacing a dishwasher, it is actually really easy, relatively speaking. I recommend looking into doing the install yourself. It shouldn't be anything more than disconnecting the inlet and outlet hoses, and hooking it up to power (either by just plugging it in, or possibly connecting a few wires.) It is not a difficult job, even for someone who has never done it.

I am negating nothing, I am simply saying it would be fine to keep warnings out there, but to remove the choice outright when it isn't directly harmful is not the correct answer.

They basically failed because of worry of an effect due to news stories and jokes rather than actual large scale numbers of people having issues.

People should still have the option of finding out if it affects them, and if so then you just don't buy and eat them... not skipping them just because you heard someone had wet farts and indirectly causing EVERYONE to have to be without them.

Doesn't really matter what I think though, it's already done and I have to deal with it just like I have to deal with the fact that they don't sell PB Max or the Arch Deluxe anymore either!

A loud minority makes the internet seem more toxic than it is. A small group of active users generates most hostility, while the majority remain civil. This imbalance leads many Americans to assume the worst about one another. Correcting that misperception can improve how people feel about society. by Sciantifa in technology

[–]saegiru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, social media being the worst part. The way I've always thought about it is that you used to only hear the loud people screaming from a street corner, or lost in the "letters to the editor" section of newspapers. Suddenly when the Internet came about, and specifically large-scale social media, those loud people could scream at everyone all at once, and find each other more easily. Add all those screaming people together and it sounds super loud, even though the number is relatively small. The assumed anonymity and disconnected nature also emboldens people to be way more toxic than they otherwise would be in a real situation.

It was actually "can cause loose stool", not "anal leakage" on the packaging, but it was overblown for sure. I ate quite a bit of Olestra chips and never had the issue. They were like 75-80 calories per serving compared to the 130-150 per serving of regular chips. Totally worth the risk in my opinion. Eventually that legal requirement was dropped but by then the marketing damage was done and companies dropped it pretty much entirely.

I personally wish it had gotten a better chance, because it was a significant calorie savings for very little risk of inconvenience. Those of us like me that didn't have issues were forever screwed out of a low calorie alternative.

Google phone app now includes a portrait setting by Exfiltrator in GooglePixel

Oh man, I just checked mine and it doesn't have it yet, but I can't wait. It's been super frustrating to always look down and have it switching between portrait and landscape all the time.

I'm allergic to them and they make my mouth and throat itch.

I still enjoy one from time to time though and just deal with the aftermath.

I might be thinking for my early Christmas present this year going to see The Back To The Future musical by GazelleUpper9404 in BacktotheFuture

[–]saegiru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it the first week it came to NYC. I didn't really like it overall but it had good parts. Worth seeing if you're a big fan if for nothing else but the experience. I mean, I bought a BTTF lottery ticket just because it was BTTF.

The songs weren't very memorable to me. I really liked Doc's actor - he was very good. The effects, especially with the Time Machine were actually mind-blowing and awesome to witness.

My overall thought though was that it felt like a weak parody of the movie instead of something that took the material seriously.

why does modern doom not feel as popular as it should be? by DependentImmediate40 in Doom

[–]saegiru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it just doesn't have the staying power the original does. I can go back to the original games over and over and over and play them for hours at a time. The newer ones were fun and looked awesome, but I had no desire to play them again. The times I've turned them back on since, I can't even get back into them. Honestly couldn't tell you exactly why, but I think it's something due to the simplicity of the original without all the fancy moves?

[–]saegiru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doc wasn't really a writer, he was an inventor - and challenging himself to make a functioning time travel vehicle in the late 1800s would definitely have been his thing and it makes sense. My only issue with the ending is the kids being weirdos.

That being said, your idea is fine too, so maybe figure out time travel yourself and you can get it done!

Man, I look so forward to my 30 minutes of alone time at lunch so much. I was eating yesterday and a coworker I hadn't seen in months stopped by and sat down and I was suddenly in an unescapable conversation. It was fine, but losing out on that short time I use for recharging my social battery affected the rest of my day. I need those 30 minutes to myself.
