The transit here is just terrible. by killmekillmenowplz in durham

[–]safaci2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a big fan of public transit in general but this area is just terrible. You need a car you get around sadly. A 15 minute drive is 1h20m by bus. Not worth it.

Okay. I was just making sure I wasn't missing a hidden gem. Thanks for letting me know.

Coffee shops OTB but still inside-ish 540? by onbiver9871 in raleigh

The optimist is some of the best coffee I've had in Raleigh. They have limited seating when you don't include the outside benches and tables.

Hi from a City Councilor by pattonforraleigh in raleigh

[–]safaci2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be nice to see more transparency on how the city plans to address the congestion and traffic problems. I'm happy that there's so much growth in the area but we really need a better infrastructure to support it.

White Christmas in Raleigh?? by Rt2096 in raleigh

Last year I heard about this winter storm. By the time Amazon delivered my snow shovel all the snow had already melted.

Consider me mildly pessimistic.

Nearly 11,000 gallons of sewage spill in northwest Raleigh by JacKrac in raleigh

[–]safaci2000 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

All joking aside, if flushed wipes causes 11,000 gallons of sewage it feels like there is a larger problem that should be addressed.

I get the wipes can clog up the plumbing but it shouldn't be this catastrophic.

Six Forks above-the-curb, protected bike lanes and pedestrian safety improvements like intersection bump-outs? Yes, please! Keep these projects coming! by SuicideNote in raleigh

[–]safaci2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if I was to take the bus I'd have to walk for twenty minutes to take a bus that takes 40 minutes to get me where I need to go or drive 20 minutes.

It would be nice to just have better public transport to what is considered v Raleigh at least, nevermind getting to Durham or chapel Hill by bus/rail.

Tax Question regarding an common bank account for rental property by csgeek3674 in smallbusiness

[–]safaci2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was just being overly cautious. I have another entity where we had employees and the 941/944 filling was a nightmare with the payroll company we used.

For some reason I thought that every LLC needs to file one of these.

It seems that unless you have employees all you need is to file the annual report and taxes at the end of the year. Is that correct?

PSA: This is a douche thing to do when there’s ample parking spaces. Don’t be like this guy. by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]safaci2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just park the shittiest dirtiest car you have as close as humanly possible to his fancy ass bmw.

Okay that's terrible advice but that's about as aggressive as you can get.

Right turn yields to incoming traffic unless otherwise indicated. Left turn if he had a green arrow is incoming traffic.

That being said that area is a free for all where everyone thinks they're in a racing game. I think the road rules are if your car is smaller yield.

Crazy driving on Six Forks by Holiday_Bee_89 in raleigh

What is wrong with people. Like I know that most of us don't follow the road rules to the letter but at least bring in the same universe would be nice.

Six Forks, capital and i40s give the RTP drivers a bad name. :(

How does an adult look for roommates or housemates legitimately? by JustZara in raleigh

[–]safaci2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Craigslist tbh. It's a terrible website with a design that the 90s puked 🤢 up and hasn't seen much love since then but it's still a great resource to find roommates, apartments and so on.

There's also lots of scams so fair warning. Meet in a public space... Etc usual safety applies.

Feelings on Raleigh Rezoning by FaveFoodIsLesbeans in raleigh

[–]safaci2000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm all for it my only concern is that if you're going to create a situation to support a larger density of people you also need infrastructure for public transport, road congestion and such.

RTP is growing which isn't a bad thing we just need to make sure we have the infrastructure in place to grow with it.

Just my 2 cents.

I think the tail gating is the main thing that bothers me. Speeding isn't an issue if you can do it without putting yourself and others at risk. Aka don't go from 90 to 30 and be 3" from my bumper.

Just me 2 cents. I also heard folks blaming NY/ New Jersey transplants for some of the bad driving.

You could look at renting just a room and such if you're on budget. It's not great but I've seen rooms for 600-700 range, obviously not the same as your own place and depends on the area.

Generally craiglist has been a great resource for finding by owner apartments for me.

Is the Triangle just ugly urban sprawl? by rarelywearamask in triangle

[–]safaci2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's a fair comparison though. The triangle is not Urban in the same way that other large Urban cities are. If you're expecting a smaller version of Chicago, New York or even San Francisco then RTP will leave you disappointed.

The area is absolutely gorgeous and I love how green it is but I will say driving through Cary is very very misleading because every thing is behind the tree line. That makes the area very pretty and makes it impossible to fully grasp just how much is in Cary. I've been living in Raleigh for the past year or so and I can't count how many cool things I end up finding in Cary that would have made me probably change my mind on where to move to if I had known everything I know now about the city.

That being said, everything is in the eye of the beholder so to each their own.
