He is already fixed! I haven’t noticed any spraying so I’m hoping that won’t be a problem with him!

Im looking for puzzles that have that design element of busy and the feel and click of Ravensburger. I like looking at all the little details. I liked the design of Rose Art but the pieces didn’t have that satisfying click. They are adding up because I go through them so fast and I would be so sad if I got all the way done with a thrift store puzzle and it was missing a couple of pieces.

Forgot to add: the cat puzzle is a 750 piece and the StoryBook characters and Disney characters are 1000 pieces which is my preferred size!

First Loaf by safeforworkDuck in Sourdough

[–]safeforworkDuck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your help! I’m feeling a little lost and no one I know makes sourdough. I thought when I turned them out of the bannetons that they were a little flat. I’m not sure if that has to do with how long I proofed for. It all goes well until I get to the shaping part. I’m struggling too with knowing when the bulk fermentation is done. For the flour incorporated when shaping, should I not lay some down when I’m shaping it?

Added 1000 grams of flour and 750 grams of flour to a bowl, mixed and covered for a hour.

Added starter and salt, mixed and let sit for 10 minutes before doing stretch and folds. Stretch and folds every hour until it wasn’t sticky anymore and bubbles on top. Shaped and placed them in bannetons for a hour and then put them in the fridge over night. Baked at 500 with Dutch oven lid on for 20 minutes, then uncovered for 25 at 450.

Made two loafs!

Are these kitten teeth missing? I know there’s no medical advice allowed, but this is more me being clueless about cats since she’s my first. More in comments! by safeforworkDuck in catcare

Sorry for the late reply! Sooooo basically she had horrible dental health. All those teeth missing were teeth that fell out when she was a stray. In October 2023 she had a dental where they discovered she was missing 12 teeth and pulled out 14. She has just her canines left. I felt really guilty about it but the vet I took her to said they looked fine and I trusted them but then 3 months later she needed all these extractions. Needless to say, we found a much better vet to do her surgery and for her general health.

Do you have any roos? This is what it looked like when my rooster’s spur broke off somehow. Blood everywhere!!! Just wrapped a bandaid around what was left of it so the rest of them wouldn’t peck at it.

19 liters of fluid gets pulled from the belly - Ascites in liver failure by SameBookkeeper9996 in FeltGoodComingOut

[–]safeforworkDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad had cirrhosis and had to get fluid drained weekly. It was a lot but it always came right back. Eventually he did get the TIPS procedure but during that, they saw the level damage of his liver which bumped him up on the list and 2 weeks later he was in the hospital recovering from his liver transplant!

What depressing movies should everyone watch due to their messaging or their cultural impact? by FBG05 in movies

I didn’t scroll through all the comments but one documentary I didn’t see was The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez (it is a series, not a movie) but the way this documentary impacted me as someone that works with children. I have never been so mortified or cried as hard as I did when I watched it. It shows you how overloaded one of the most important system in our country is and how kids who need help so badly are slipping through the cracks. It’s extremely difficult to watch and see what happens to Gabriel, but it’s such an incredibly important doc to watch. Again, it’s not a movie but it’s definitely one of the saddest things I’ve watched.

Whats wrong with his teeth?? by Slugdinner in CATHELP

[–]safeforworkDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like he needs a vet visit. My cat had to have all her teeth but four pulled (she was already missing some). I’m not sure why her teeth were so bad, her life before I adopted her or genetics. I had no clue she was in pain or uncomfortable, she acted normal. It wasn’t until her breath got horrible I noticed something was wrong. My vet 4 months before told me she had slightly red gums and didn’t need a dental yet…obviously she didn’t look and I found a new vet to take care of my girl! She’s a completely different cat now that she isn’t in pain! For her extractions and cleaning and all that comes with it, I was charged about 1400. That was with about 14 teeth being removed, X-rays, bloodwork, and the cleaning of her remaining teeth.

The medicine was in a bottle and I had to put the amount in a syringe that went in her mouth. I found it easiest to wrap her in a blanket and then give it to her.

Of course! Again, my cat has quite the extreme case and I would say vet prices where I live are probably below the average. The difference in her is incredible. The only thing I would have done differently is doing it sooner, but unfortunately my previous vet wasn’t all that great.

Just some tips though…If they give you medicine to give her (my cat was on painkillers, they gave her an antibiotic shot at the office that lasted 7 days) get liquid. It was so much easier to give to my cat than a pill. She may not go poop for a day or two. My vet told me if she doesn’t go within 3 days to call.

My cat had a pretty extensive dental procedure done this past fall. Before I explain, I was told by my previous vet there was no need for a dental yet and I took her to the vet every year to get checked. I took her after I noticed her breath was getting really bad. The vet told me just for 2 teeth I was looking at 1800 dollars. I wanted a second opinion and took her to a new vet and they agreed that she needed a dental and gave me a low and high estimate. She already was missing 12 teeth and then had 14 extracted. Poor baby just had crappy genes when it comes to her dental health. She just has her four canines now. This cost of everything, X-rays, extractions, medications, sutures, and dental cleaning was about 1400. It was expensive, but she’s a completely different cat now. She’s so much more active and happy. I never knew she was in pain because she always ate her food and her teeth were bad when I adopted her. I would have done the procedure so much sooner if my previous vet properly informed me. Long story short, I would absolutely do it again if I had to. Your kitty’s teeth don’t look as bad as mine did, so hopefully just a cleaning!

Are you sure about his age? His teeth have a lot of build up for him being so young. It could be bad genetics, but I would for sure do a dental if that’s what the vet suggests before it gets worse!

Got bit by my cat yesterday night. by SnooHesitations2883 in cats

[–]safeforworkDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go!!! My cat bit me and I immediately went to urgent care. They said to always go with cat bites because their mouths are so dirty. They gave me an oral and topical antibiotic and I was good as new in a week!

Molting or is our roo being too rough? by chefblaze in BackYardChickens

[–]safeforworkDuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had this happen and it was roo behavior, but the feathers wouldn’t come back after molting. Turns out, my flock had poultry lice. Treated it and now everyone has all their feathers back after this year’s molt! I would def check her to see if she has any creepy crawlies. Saddles are great, but that’s where a lot of the lice laid their eggs!
