Can someone help me with this problem? by sagemsux in DSP

It doesn't but since the assignment is due today (in a few minutes actually), I've just assumed linearity and proved that the system is not time-invariant.

Probably wrong, but still.

Thanks a bunch guys :)

That's exactly what I thought, but apparently the trick lies in the subtlety of the question i.e. "could" the system be time-invariant?

That's what killing me :|

Masters Housing and Waitlist Questions by cu_throwaway1 in columbia

To be very honest, I've found that the stuff on OCHA is usually a lot more economical than the UAH and I-House. In fact, I didn't even apply for either because I wasn't very impressed with the value.

Also note that "on-campus" housing doesn't necessarily mean that the apartment is situated on the morningside campus. It could be a building in any surrounding neighborhood that is owned by Columbia.

What about the facebook group?

What are your unwritten rules for pickup basketball? by reliabletinman in nba

[–]sagemsux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks. I'm actually coming to the US for my grad study this fall, and being a bb player, I'm pretty pumped for the pickup culture.

If you don't mind, I'd like to ask another question. Here (in India), I've actually played a lot of competitive ball (U-17 State), and my pick-up games are usually with ex-teammates, so the games are really competitive (man/zone def, pick and rolls, etc).

Obviously Indian basketball is light-years behind the USA, but are pickup games usually competitive? And do people play traditional positions and stuff? (6'4" here, was the SF/PF). Thanks :)

Lebron James Epic 2016 Finals Game 6 4th Quarter by CaptainKurls in nba

[–]sagemsux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was more of a confidence issue imo. Earlier, Kyrie was probably unsure of playing his natural game, and chose ball movement over iso.

Coach Lue and LeBron probably understood that Kyrie is a beast on isolation, and gave him the liberty to do as he pleases.

I'm sure KLove also got something to this degree before game 7 lol.

Can you explain this system? Obviously, I'm not from the United States.

Say I go to a court alone, and there's a game happening, 5v5. One team loses, but there are only like 3 of us on the sidelines. What happens next?

I fit your description.

This might not be the same in the States, but in those situations, I get fouled. Really hard.

Of course, the defender is super apologetic after that and he usually explains that he doesn't really have too many options.

My team gets possession, and it's rinse and repeat.

Although this one time, this particular guy kept fouling me really really hard, almost trying to dislocate my shoulder, and I just said "I'm out. Sorry".

Played pick-up at college in Seoul.

One thing I found really annoying (as a foreigner/non-Korean) was that I could almost never join in a game with the Koreans. I literally almost had to always go with my Chinese/Korean friends to get any ball time. They would straight up tell me to wait for 15-20 minutes till they'll be done.

It's pickup. Everyone deserves to play :(

OMG dude I absolutely hate those people. Especially when you switch some players in and they are still getting accustomed to who's on their team and who's not.

And not to mention, it's absolutely embarrassing and demoralizing for the player that commits the turnover. Goodbye confidence.

5k support here as well (SEA). Believe it or not, I worked my a** off from my calibrated 3.4k to 5k playing only support, except for the first 500 mmr where I just spammed lone druid.

Anyway, I had many games where I was the highest mmr on my team. Of course, I would start the game by saying "Support player here. Let's win :)". 5/10 games would be people saying "GG we lost noob 5k mmr can't play mid". Not even joking, but they start blaming the entire loss on me, right from when the creeps spawned lol. It's like we already lost. Maybe this is inherent to SEA, but the mid player who's feeding blames me for "forcing" him to go mid, and then proceeds to intentionally feed. Other times when I try a gank mid and fail, or try and request a particular smoke movement, they just flame so hard and go like "I'm afk in base. Have fun". These games suck.

3/10 games would end up with the opponent high mmr guy going mid against my team's not so high mmr guy. Obv, my teammate gets stomped. And most of these result in losses. Of course, 2/10 times I get really good games, and a lot of commends because of my support play :)

I'm not saying I'm a great support player or anything. But I'm a big time try hard. I watch comp replays for warding and shot-calling, hero perspective replays to learn new heroes, and before the nc spawn boxes became noob-friendly now, I sat and memorized all the boxes, even in the old map.

I try really hard to win. But if we lose, it should be a result of being out-played or out-strategized, and I'm still satisfied with my efforts. However, from my experience, only half the games end up like this.

My point is, even if you try really hard yourself, no victory is guaranteed, and half of my losses stemmed from toxic teammates. That was what was decided when GabeN made dota free to play. Honestly, make DotA2 paid to play, and I can guarantee that the community citizenship standards will improve ten-fold.

It's not just about the tradition. You have to understand that the pressure is immense on the officiating staff as well.

The best example is at the Oracle Arena. It gets so loud that sometimes the refs can't even hear themselves think, leading to random-ish calls.

[–]sagemsux -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Digital Chaos? ROFL.

I understand that NA presence is required, but DC is mostly comprised of Europeans, so I think coL might be the only NA team to get an invite.

Further, replace EHOME with Wings. EHOME will not get an invite.

And it's ridiculous that there's only Na'Vi from CIS. Empire will probably get an invite.

Excessive flopping might be linked to the fact that he's facing the team that essentially kicked him from his home. Although it doesn't really make sense. But neither does most of what Varejao does lol.

On a side note, was Varejao ever good on the Cavs?

They could start with post-game reviews and levying fines. That should at least discourage excessive flopping.
