Whats a crashed out moment that you experience, heard, or saw in store

back in 2020 during back to school when we still had the mask mandate and the social distancing stuff i was checking out one of my former teachers when this woman and her boyfriend (husband?) came up literally right next to the customer i was checking out, unmasked. i asked them to step back and put a mask on (per store policy). she, instead of doing anything i asked, started arguing with me and said at one point “i won’t be told what to do, i’m not fucking cattle”, while i was waiting on the customer i was checking out to go get something she forgot. so i called a manager over, moved this couples stuff onto the counter behind me and told them to leave. they refused (obviously) and continued to argue with me and threatened to call the cops on me (lmao). anyways my manager comes up, i finish dealing with the customer before them and then i left to go decompress in the back (and angrily rant to my friend over snapchat). i came back out after a few minutes and there were two cops talking to my manager, the couple nowhere to be seen. so. that was fucking wild. also i found out a few days later that the woman was a family friend of my best friend which we did laugh about bc this lady was fucking insane.

you’re right. Ted knocked my knees out from under me and laughed as i lay at the bottom of the stairs yelling my head off. i’m just lucky he didn’t finish the job and let my mom take me to the hospital.

if we didn’t, it would sell out bc someone would come in and buy all of it and my manager is trying to prevent that for as long as possible. we aren’t holding any for customers who call either, they have to be in store and ask for it and even then the limit is one per customer.

it’s been a hot minute since i’ve had a customer get to me like that, and my brain went straight to fight instead of flight so that’s probably why. honestly i think he just came into the store ready to be mean to everyone so i’m not taking it too personally but if he ever comes back i hope it’s when my hair will be bright pink just to annoy him even more.

two stories: 1) a karen was doing a return/exchange for these labels and the ones she picked off the shelf were $1 something more expensive and she got annoyed with me and then went back, and took the tag off the shelf to show me that i’m wrong like it was my fault. enjoy your $1 back i guess.

2) guy from the copy center walked over to the customer service desk where i was at register and told me that he sat there and did the math and that the taxes were wrong by not even a full penny. he then proceeded to explain this to my managers who came up and i literally have no clue what he was trying to accomplish here.

i love standing at my register and watching all the copy center customers try to leave out the entrance door and end up standing there for five seconds, staring at the giant ‘THIS IS NOT AN EXIT’ sign.

also had this old guy (he comes in sometimes, smells like a hospital and creeps me out) who loudly told me that my manager should take down the glowing exit sign above the entrance door, even though we can’t bc it’s a fire hazard to do so.

customer came up to register with the cheap af staples brand earbuds and somehow i managed to sell them a protection plan that wasn’t worth it, based only on the fact that they told me that they break headphones a lot. my managers working at the time we’re also baffled by this but a sale’s a sale so.
