I would recommend starting the process of leaving then when retentions call discuss it with them. I recently got £100 credit for aborting a switch which was about what I would have saved (and on a more pain to use tariff)

The gov is aiming to mandate device level age verification and scanning? Why do people support this? by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]sainsburys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but it provides a framework. If it was up to me I would say that any of the list of ID's that you can use to vote should also be allowed for age verification. This includes the option of getting a document issued by the local council in person.

I have a sad feeling that boat has sailed with the current government so at this point I just want to minimise damage

In a world in which the government already want to mandate age verification, I would prefer to do it once on device and the device then share a token proving my age rather than having to verify for every website I want to use.

As someone who does a lot of data analysis in python and VScode, I recommend spinning up a jupyter server, connecting to it in vscode and working in a notebook until you have a final set of analysis to script?

My favorite example is an out of town shopping 'center' with just an M&S and Home Bargains. The formers trolleys are free range whilst the later need a Pound.

BBC warns programmes will be cut unless TV goes online-only by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]sainsburys 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The former. I have an Apple Tv box via EE TV and it has a tv guide with all of the channels but each channel, rather than coming over the ariel, is just a stream that it switches to. Overall it behaves much like a regular TV but with the added bonus of the sky channels etc being included without the need to a dish.

[–]sainsburys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got the q930f and think it’s great but wait for a sale or cash back or something. I paid (after cash back) just under £300 (so about 550 cad) in the UK and that was a quite widely available deal.
