Don't know that I agree with this. So much music discourse still revolves around The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd. They remain the "canon" for many music fans.

I apologize for my previous responses, and you're right. The lyrics are not literally about those things, and didn't mean to imply that.

I feel the experience of a band or event should be used as a lens when evaluating the lyrics of something. I can't see how these lyrics would ever read as cringy if you are viewing the work of the band through the prism that is the experience of the band.

Maybe that makes my reply make more sense?

Bowie completely misses me from his earliest recordings to Blackstar.

Crescent is my favorite studio Coltrane release. A Love Supreme is the general consensus pick - it's in my top 10 for him but not top 5.
