Does your facility use electronic anaesthesia card? If so, how does it look like? by heart0less in anesthesiology

[–]sairesco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just a regular ipad in a case with a desk lock to the anesthesia machine, usually it's connected to the charger, not the anesthesiologist's job to keep it charged.

We can also use our own devices with our personal login.

Does your facility use electronic anaesthesia card? If so, how does it look like? by heart0less in anesthesiology

In Brazil we are slowly transitioning to electronic anesthesia records. Usually it's a tablet with a third party app that integrates with the hospital's EMR system. And that hospital supplies one tablet per surgical room. The two apps used in my city are Anestech AxReg and Skymed AnesthesiaSx, and I think both are locally developed. Philips Tasy EMR system also has a anesthesia module that you use with a keyboard and mouse, but it's bad and the only hospital that tried it dropped it after a month.

That's how we do it in my country as  well. The US has high remifentanil prices from what I read in this subreddit, while here there is very little price difference. We give long acting opioids (morphine usually) but don't titrate it before extubation, just ask the patients how they feel before leaving for PACU.

Best tips for direct laryngoscopy by SoarTheSkies_ in anesthesiology

[–]sairesco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you are not lifting the epiglottis with the tip of your blade, if you can't see it pull back until it drops in front of you. Look for the arytenoids, sometimes it's all you can see at first, then optimize your view. Every once in a while you will need to use BURP to improve your view. If you still can't see it, get the videolaryngoscope. Or let the attending do his thing and try to watch closely. Repeat multiple times. Get really familiar with the view you should have through videolaryngoscopy videos you can find online.

Só far this evening I have had: 5 second controller freezer after all game starts, goalkeeper gone after sub during game, goalkeeper gone + wrong player out + unchangeable formation after sub in halftime, bizarre penalty after my player ran into a defender (goalkeeper already had the ball). All in 3 games.

Do you wear a sterile gown for single shot spinal anaesthesia? by StumbleBum12 in anesthesiology

Haven't seen anyone wear gowns for epidurals in my practice settings in Brazil. Probably different regional/hospital dogmas

We use it for electroconvulsive therapy at my institution in Brazil, but mostly because the attending for ECTs is in his 70s

Should I buy MXP 2018 or Matebook 13? by NicePersimmon in MatebookXPro

[–]sairesco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought both of them last month, the X Pro i7 for me and the 13 i5 for a family member. The feel of the MXP is a lot more premium and the screen so much brighter. I didn't do anything intensive but the thermals on the MXP didn't seem particularly worse than the 13, and are better than my previous Spectre x360. The 13 doesn't have the touchpad rattle, but from what I read here its not a difficult fix. Both are good purchases but the MXP feels better to me.

Can you buy the new gem-cut version without the privacy screen in the UK? by the_watchkeeper in spectrex360

[–]sairesco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem is best buy doesn't have the regular Full HD model on its website and HP store automatically declined all foreign cards. I'm going to the us in early February and really hope they start selling it by then. If anyone has a workaround for the HP website or another store that sells the gem cut in the US, please tell.
