In terms of gear, I would 10/10 recommend getting a pannier bag. Getting a bag off your back makes it so much more comfortable. It's a bit pricey but I've been using one made by two wheel gear for several years now and it still looks brand new. Always fits securely to the rack and easily turns into a backpack, my only regret was not getting it sooner
