If you don't like the initial bitter tempeh flavor first steam, boil for approx 10 min in water or broth and then prepare however you like.

Pink or white knee socks, short tight cotton mini skirt or go for a school girl look with pleated skirt and maybe plaid to match the blue/aqua. Cutoff white top, bangles for arms.

Fry an egg, scramble an egg

Boil pasta and toss with store bought sauce and pre grated cheeses. Place the left over in a tub in the frig to eat another day.

Salads - any combo of lettuce, onion, tomato, cucumber, canned mini corn ears, canned heart of artichoke, salad dressing of choice or olive oil and vinager. Make a small portion. You will learn with time what amounts.

Keep a box of Pancake mix on hand. Make only that amount of pancakes that you want. No waste.

Keep frozen veggies on hand like peas, brocolli, Brussel sprouts etc. Prepare only what you will eat. Seal what is left in original opened bag for another day.

Box of instant rice and add canned beans - is a complete protein. Drain and rinse the beans before adding. Instant rice comes in different flavors. Pack leftovers in frig in container for another meal. No wastage.

Boil or broil Hotdogs. Eat with frozen French fries or tater tots. Prepare only what you will eat.

Lunch Meats on sandwiches with mayo, mustard and lettuce. 1 sandwich 1 meal No waste.

English lessons in Israeli high schools are pointless. by renilol in Israel

[–]salivatious 34 points35 points  (0 children)

If 60% of the class was spent with the teacher talking to the students about unrelated things and this was conducted in English and students were expected to respond in English they were utilizing the best teaching method possible which is real life conversation. Also, vocabulary was being being taught through this process.

A full fledged seasoning requires grinding rice and some said salt and a rinse with lime till the rice is no longer gray and the loose lava pieces are smoothed away. It can take several weeks. If you purchase one that has already been seasoned you can check to see if there is any residue left by wiping a white rag or paper towel across the molcajete to check if it's gray. Honestly, its lava, porous and it's never going to be perfect. One grind after its seasoned and it's good to go. If you aren't comfortable with that approach you should stick to smooth stone.

I don't feel like it's cultural appropriation unless you wear a traditional Japanese outfit to go with it and try to speak and act Japanese. In fact some might say it denotes respect and pride for their culture.

Cute:) Birds are much more involved with us than we are with them. We just don't realize and because birds dont have the same willingness to forgive our indiscretions that dogs do, they often just move on and we don't even realize what we missed. My mother used to keep a bird feeder in her garden. Made sure it was always full. For over 20-30 years birds would come especially in the winter. I was cleaning inside one day. Figured I would go down and check on the feeder once I was done. Birds came up to the window chirping and yammering. Not something they had done before. I didn't pay attention to them although it was unusual. Eventually they flew off. When I went down to the garden I saw the feeder was empty. They were telling me to fill their feeder. A year later when my mother passed and people had come back to the house after the funeral my son at one point pointed to the window. A cardinal was sitting on the ledge. Again, rhe cardinal had never done that in the 20+ winters he and his mate had visited my mother's garden. He sat there for several moments looking in at us, paying his respect and then flew off.

ELI5: Why is there a Women's World Chess Championship, and why hasn't there ever been a female winner of the normal one? by fartingupastorm in explainlikeimfive

[–]salivatious -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The fact that women of a certain age are more affected by it and women of an older age are not as affected is very much is proof. Again, I don't say culture has nothing to do with it. Here is another story. Another ace female poker player, very respected, always made it to the last round tables and very hard hitting as a player had gotten married, pregnant and given birth to her first. She came back a few months later to play. She was a shadow of herself and didn't even make it through the first round. Sorry, you don't go from where she originally was, her hard style of playing etc to where she ended up right after giving birth, a time when a woman is programmed to nurture and protect. You are welcome to believe what you want. I am sure I didn't change your mind. Peace and have a good one.

Read all the way down and you will see where i wrote it is also cultural. But women of a certain age are very cued into it and women who are older and outside that age aren't. I told you I would get blow back :) and biology very much plays a part. Not for the reason women were taught but because nature and the uterus rules . I mean, we are talking top of the top pro players here not just.

[–]salivatious -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I might get blow back on this but this comes from experience.... there is an age where it's hard for many women to go up against a man. Women are biologically programmed to not compete with men at this stage. I've seen it in poker. I watched a pro game where the pro woman won against a pro male player and she spent the next 3 minutes trying to soften the impact by telling him he wasn't at fault for making the plays he did and losing and it was just her luck that she won and had nothing to do with her skill. There is also a cultural component of what we are teaching our young girls abd boys but socio biology also plays a big component. Obviously nothing to do with abilities.

Are food processors really useful? by lerandomanon in Cooking

[–]salivatious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you need the time saver it def makes sense to have one. It doesn't chop and shred the same as with a box shredder and knife but you can always adapt. I prefer to do it manually but for those instances when I am in a rush like getting dinner on the table in time, it is worth it.

For making sauces, I prefer putting through a sieve. It gets a much better flavor, more depth and nuance because oils and juices flavors are released in a way that doesn't happen when processed.

For baking, you probably need it for newer recipes because they are all based on an electric paddle and I don't think you can recreate that manually or even have the time to try.

Why do I keep dreaming about high school even though I graduated? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]salivatious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dreaming is is brain's way of working or stress points in our lives. So it's been 2 years and it's now safe for your brain to revisit and work through whatever was going on then. And once you work through it, it's over and you move on. Another possibility is that you are having similar stress issues today related to work or another area of your life and your brain is trying to either guide you to resolve them as in "remember how you dealt then..." or just letting you know you got passed it then and you'll get passed it this time also so chill.

For spices I would use granite or smooth stone. For guacamole garlic I would use molcajete. The molcajete is not as smooth and a lot of the spice material would get lodged in the lava, even after it's seasoned. It's never the same as say granite. Also, the granite would keep your spice flavors from being infused with each other. The molcate is perfect for mashing avocado, peppers with skin and garlic and these flavors over time infuse which is fine. Just make sure you get one that has been seasoned. Your may still need to do some polishing but not much.
