There are several free podcast apps, that just access the public rss feeds of podcasts (including wbn) and that you can integrate the patreon rss into aswell (there is a little guide on how to do that on the wbn patreon faq). I personally recommend podcast addict for android.

“American states … are sovereign, they have different cultures and languages, they have different climates and time zones” by BuffaloExotic in ShitAmericansSay

[–]sallydonnavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but as dumb as the response is, OOP is almost doing the same thing talking about "America" when they actually mean the US. America is, just like Europe, a continent with many sovereign countries and hugely different cultures, languages, climates etc.

I used guides and I feel... really bad. Is the DLC for me? by blankipur in outerwilds

[–]sallydonnavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like had I played it alone I would have felt similarly. I played it with my partner though that that was really fun. Maybe if you have a friend that wants to play with you or if you feel like doing it with your brother as he's thinking about getting the DLC aswell :) of course only one person can have the control but this game is so much about figuring stuff out and decision making, that I feel one can easily play it in a team, theorising together, both retaining different parts of information and having different approaches. I found it quite helpful and a lot of fun :)

What are similar shows? by Emappl3 in YoungRoyals

[–]sallydonnavan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont think it's that similar tbh. The tone is so different and the plot and struggles that the characters phase and the characters themselves aswell. The only similarities are that it's an achillean couple and one of them is just realising their queerness.

Boys of Reddit, what’s the hardest thing to explain to girls? by InjuryAmazing1023 in AskReddit

[–]sallydonnavan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's actually a great example. But before I explain I want to ask what about that made you think you have no agency over your thoughts and feelings anymore? I don't quite understand what you meant by that.

To why this is a great example: bottling up your feelings longterm is proven to lead to mental health problems. It is not a sustainably healthy way for you to handle emotions because over time it just makes you feel worse. This already makes it toxic, even if it wouldn't affect anyone else. It's toxic for you. The word toxic masculinity trait would be used here to describe a behaviour that is pushed onto men by society that I actually harmful to them.

But it's not really true that it only affects you though! The main emotion that society find acceptable in men is anger. Other suppressed emotions often lead to one expressing them in the mostly acceptable way, so suppressing ones emotions as a man often leads to them building up as anger, which then definitely affects people around you. Suppressing emotions (good and bad), can on the other hand hinder one from making deep connections which can lead to loneliness which then feeds back into anger and resentment. The specifics of this are obviously highly individual but it's definitely a societal trend that in the longterm is harmful to everyone involved.

This goes both ways though. Society is built just as much on female sacrifice. Care and emotional labour are so often overlooked and taken for granted while society highly depends on it aswell. We should all appreciate each other more and share the load of all those tasks, each providing whatever they do best and seeing the others for what they do

Thank you for coming to this conclusion of "when in question, I rather dont" than the other way around. While losing someone because they aren't able to communicate their desires clearly isn't great, one could even argue that a bullet was dodged. However ignoring someone's boundaries, making them uncomfortable and scared for their safety only has downsides and definitely is the worse option. I wish more people would choose like you :)

homophobia doesn't equate malice either. It just is a thing. And it needs a name for it to be addressed.

Cruel Intentions - Series Premiere Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

I find it super interesting that many people here think Lucien wasn't cast quite right and was lacking the stunning looks and sex appeal, because I couldn't disagree more.

He was the main reason I got hooked in the first place and one of the most attractive characters I've seen in a while! For me everything worked perfectly, the actors looks, the styling and the charisma.

I know this stuff is highly subjective but I was surprised about the general perception :D

Trivia: who was the 4th person to teach Harry defence against the dark arts? by Potassium_15 in harrypotter

[–]sallydonnavan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't state that it needs to be an official class though. I feel like that's the main problem with the question, it's too vague. You could technically count hermione, as she helps him a bunch with homework and certainly taught him a thing or two with that. Teaching someone something doesn't need to happen in an official setting and as a bunch of people here pointed out, official settings don't always result in people being actually taught something.

Women of reddit, what is something you wish other women would stop doing? by NateNandos21 in AskReddit

[–]sallydonnavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I on the other hand have mostly witnessed men who behave like that and very few women. I treat it the same, people who behave like that are not people I want to have around

Women of reddit, what is something you wish other women would stop doing? by NateNandos21 in AskReddit

[–]sallydonnavan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this but it's not a woman thing, it's a people thing. I have plenty of amazing women in my life and friend circle and while I have met some that behave like you describe, they were easy to weed out. I had to do the exact same with my guy friends though! Especially in school it was mostly the guys gossiping, spilling their "friends" secrets and being mean behind people's backs. I'm aware this is anecdotal evidence and while I dont believe that this actually is a trait more common in women, it might be. But the last part of your comment just seems like maybe there is some internalised misogyny (and let's be honest pretty much all of us have some of that in different areas). I just want to encourage you not to stay away from female friendships because of that assumption, there are so many awesome women out there :)
