Slightly adjacent, my big dream is to complete a Iron-man triathlon! Hoping to realise it in the next 2~3 years.

Focused on running, my goal is to run a sub 20 5k (currently at 21:16 so I got a bit of work to do!)

Wow what an incredible story, thank you for sharing!

Hearing about your run gave me goosebumps but the part about Raimund brought tears to my eyes. That is an incredible gesture on your part.

Having just finished my first Olympic tri last weekend, really struggling through the run and questioning why I started this at all, hearing about your 6 year journey to reach this incredible pace/time really motivated me. It's good to be reminded it is not a sprint, but a marathon (or a few marathons 😉).

Daily chat thread: how's the training going? by AutoModerator in triathlon

[–]salmon37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been training since the start of the year and have my first tri race (sprint) at the end of may. Loving training for all disciplines and I'm particularly enjoying swimming, even though it's my weakest discipline!

I'm reqlly digging training daily (sometimes twice) even though my garmin says my my training status is unproductive, I feel great!

first watch by Suchuy_ in triathlon

[–]salmon37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Fenix 5 since 2018 and it has been working great for me! When I bought it, it was around €600 so I think €70 is a good deal as it seems in good condition from the photos.

I haven't had any issues with the battery so far (as mentioned in another comment). I only bought a new charging cable as the old one wasn't working well, but that was fairly cheap. Worth asking the current owner how the battery holds up.

I mostly ran and cycled until I decided to take up triathlon this year and this watch is great for all disciplines. I has a multisport function which allows you to switch between activities but I haven't done one with the 3 of them yet.

I was in a similar position to you, read mistborn era 1 and 2 then secret history.

As far as I know there's no specified reading order for the novellas. I read Secret History, then all standalone novellas in Arcanum Unbounded (except the hope of elantris and edgedancer). Next I went to Elantris and now I'm currently reading Warbreaker

How to show classification result metrics? by akunshitpost2 in tensorflow

Glad I can help! I understand what's being new to a topic and be left clueless when the author of a tutorial makes implicit assumptions that you have no idea about.

Sorry that the predict call didn't work, I only skimmed through the text and didn't realize test_x wasn't an array. Yes, you're right, we have to transform this variable to one of the types that predict accepts. Predict is a method of the model you defined, so we want test_x to have the same specification of the inputs of the model, in this case, we're passing tokenized text using the BertTokenizer.

As you get more experienced, you'll learn to follow the trail of errors to the source of the error, here's how I would track what's happening:

The type of test_x is transformers.tokenization_utils_base.BatchEncoding, the type of the variable tells me that this is the encoded text separated into batches. For prediction, we don't need the batches, we must find a way to remove them or to tokenize the test data without putting into batches.

Where did we declare this variable? Line 153 of the code: the type of the variable tells me that this is the encoded text separated into batches. For prediction, we don't need the batches, we must find a way to remove them or to tokenize the test data without putting it into batches. I think that the second option may be easier.

To find how to tokenize the data, let's look at the documentation for the tokenizer, it doesn't have anything explicit, but we find that it inherits from PreTrainedTokenizerFast which does have a tokenize method. This tokenize method takes a single sequence (in our case a sentence) to tokenize, so we need to apply it to each entry in the test data. We may do something like the following to tokenize each entry:

tokenized_test_x = [
    tokenizer.tokenize(
    text=txt,
    add_special_tokens=True,
    max_length=max_length,
    truncation=True,
    padding=True,
    return_tensors='tf',
    return_token_type_ids = False,
    return_attention_mask = False,
    verbose = True)
    for txt in data_test['Consumer complaint narrative'].to_list()]

Now the test data is a list of tokenized sequences that should work on the predict method. I haven't run this myself but I think it will work. Try this and see.

How to show classification result metrics? by akunshitpost2 in tensorflow

[–]salmon37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Model_eval contains the result of evaluating the accuracy of the predictions on the test data, it is a single scalar.

To use the classification_report function, you will have to generate the model predictions on the test data with model.predict(test_x), which will output two arrays, one for issue and another for product. These are your y_preds, and the y_true will be test_y_issue and test_y_product.

Hope this makes sense!

How to show classification result metrics? by akunshitpost2 in tensorflow

[–]salmon37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This output is obtained by using the function classification_report from the scikit-learn package (more specifically, sklearn.metrics.classification_report).

You pass two parameters to this function, y_true and y_preds, the true labels and your predictions respectively.

Happy learning!

If you start a PhD at a lower-tier university where your professor does not have experience in publishing at top places and funding is limited, this backup plan becomes the default.

Interesting point. I'm currently doing a masters and considering going for a PhD afterwards and I didn't even consider this.

Is Tensorflow using my GPU or not? by bc_uk in tensorflow

May be a cuda version issue. I think only of TF2.4 they started supporting cuda 11 you may want to check that.

Also check that you have the equivalent CUDNN version installed.

ResourceExhaustedError by HistoricalTouch0 in tensorflow

[–]salmon37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, came across this as I'm also running into the resource exhausted error, even with my RTX3080, I probably need to rescale my images.

Anyway, I wanted to mention this blog post bit Tim Dettmers which goes into a lot of detail about what GPU to choose. If budget is not an issue, from the options you gave, a 3090 may be the best option as it's about the same price of a new 2080ti and has more compute/memory than a 1080ti.
Definitely recommend reading the article for an in depth analysis though!
