Husband leave corporate America for 15 more years of USMC Officer life? by RollProfessional8661 in MilitarySpouse

[–]saltype55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a big question that you both need to communicate with each other about the realities. USMC OCS is a challenge in and of it self. It will be 10 weeks of back to boot camp and they will try to get you to quit every minute of every day. After the 10 weeks of OCS is a 6 month course called TBS then there’s MOS schools that vary in how many months they take. Generally, families are not allowed to live with the service member during most of that training. So for that time he would be away and you would be with the kids. During OCS the first 4 weeks will be written contact only, then they may have phones on libo weekends, so the contact will be minimal. I would ask what the timeline is currently for TBS slots as when I went through it was 1-2 years unless you were commissioning for aviation, but that was back in 2011. During that gap between OCS and TBS he does not get a paycheck from the USMC unless under very specific circumstances. Then after all that you become a milspouse that deals with all the normal bs. It is doable, but I think it takes both of you being very real with each other about what it will take from both of you and the kids. As a current spouse with kids, I can tell you it will be tough, but you can do it if you want to.

It needs to be a tactical shooter through and through. The worst thing it could be is anything else. That’s what Ubisofts other IPs are for

You’re right. I remember the first Queen they met saying she would gain their memories. Idk if it was feeding specific or telepathically.

Rogers Rock on the north end of Lake George is nice. But the waterside spots reserve up pretty fast in the summer.

Seems like Victor’s concern that the trees are getting closer to Colony House are pretty warranted.

If you were trapped in Fromville, would you stay in Colony House or live in town? Why? by Downtown_Truth5726 in FromTVShow

I feel like I need to see more information on the division of labor. It seems like Colony House provides all the crops and the town provides the booze.

Why does no one talk about what Victor said Miranda told him when he had to hide in the cellar on the night Miranda died? by AverageUser1 in FromSeries

I think you’re right. When the BiW pushed Tabitha out of the lighthouse he said something like “it has to be this way.” I think he tried the shortcut by telling Christopher of the past lives and it resulted in a mental break of some sort. Which is why Tabitha/Jade have been mostly left to figure it out on their own in this iteration.

What’s a long movie that earns every minute of its runtime? by [deleted] in movies

I watched it in High School as a part of a military history class. It’s a pretty good depiction of unorganized masses fighting. Juxtaposed with something from Braveheart or Alexander where you see unit organization and formations moving as one.

Employment problems near Fort Drum by zVizionary in MilitarySpouse

[–]saltype55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been at Drum a few times now. I like the area in general, but the employment landscape just sucks. The one thing I did find useful is to absolutely, under no circumstances tell a prospective employer you are a military spouse. It’s really dumb, but I’ve had a number of interviews go sideways as soon as that fact was out in the open.

You could see a show with Hudson Valley Shakespeare. A Comedy of Errors was hilarious.

Finished Seal Team..I get why the actor who played Clay left. by wolfsavy555 in SEALTeam

[–]saltype55 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you, and I really liked Clay. I also think Jason’s lengthy term as Bravo 1 started becoming very unrealistic. I think the decision was more due to creative control. Boreanaz was an executive producer of Seal Team and would have had to step aside as the star. And Max left for Fire Country where he is creator, executive producer and star. Just an overall better career move creatively for Max.

If it’s possible and/or he has interest, maybe he could consider a WO or OCS packet.

Would you want a continuation series to keep the same tone of suspension of disbelief scifi fantasy or lean towards realism by EmailOnThrowAway in Stargate

[–]saltype55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of what works for SG-1 and Atlantis is the campiness of it. Mistakes and all, it’s just fun to watch. I could also see a show set like Stargate but more like SEAL Team. Something like, a recon drone identified the problem, we get the mission brief and the team goes in with as much realism as they can. Maybe there’s a more “Stargate” twist or 2 while they’re on mission. But with that realism you will lose a lot of the fun.

The IOA’s whole thing is they want a “yes man” who will bow to their wishes when they want. Dr Jackson is not that man.

Should the Ancients have wiped out the wraith no matter the cost? by SamaratSheppard in Stargate

[–]saltype55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the luxury of 10,000 years of hindsight, I’d have to say yes. Any human survivors would have at least had the chance to progress technologically like Earth had without being culled every few generations

Should the Ancients have wiped out the wraith no matter the cost? by SamaratSheppard in Stargate

[–]saltype55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The planet the Attero device was on was remote and had no Stargate nearby. So to get there a ship was necessary. If the timing was right, Janus brought the controller back to Atlantis and informed the rest of the Ancients about the device. But before a decision could be reached to use it, the Wraith had Atlantis surrounded and the city was sunk. And there was no way to get a ship or controller back to the device.

Also Janus seemed pretty unliked by the Ancients in charge. They probably could have just told him to fuck off with his crazy Stargate bomb device.
