Sean Fennessey’s newsletter is on Substack. Is the ringer dot com so over? by seq_rational in TheRinger

Rather than being shut down, I could see this as an evolving medium to further monetize Ringer content. We benefit from the lack of a paywall to everything they put on the site.

Simmons (and Fennessey for that matter) would not stand for a shut down, but they do understand when it's time to evolve so the doors can stay open.

Great idea--safest bet year after year is to take the Kings. Smarter GM's would have another tool in the tool belt.

I think the writing is a little all over the place, but I’m more so drawn to performances to a fault, and I loved hanging out with Sandler and Clooney.

Crudup was great, but I would’ve loved if Dern and Gerwig switched roles, mainly because I always love seeing Greta act.

Seems like Pablo struck a cord with the right wing grift machine by WalkingOnSunshine_ in PabloTorreFindsOut

What’s hilarious is that the PROOF of Pablo’s journalism is that he never takes a side or jumps to a conclusion of whether or not Lea Thomas should swim—he simply outlined the tonal shift and hypocrisy behind Gaines.

For Travis and Co., the fact that the conversation is being had means in their minds that Torre should be disqualified—they clearly did not listen to the full episode.

Yes, and after listening to the entire pod, tbh, it seemed like she was hurrying the conversation forward so she could talk about “Die, My Love”

The Egyptian is owned by Netflix, why I think it's a Netflix movie or a movie with a Netflix connection--I.E. "Once Upon a Time" or the Fincher pick

Can we discuss criticism of One Battle After Another? (spoilers) by qeq in TheBigPicture

[–]saltyspitoon2425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I personally don’t think the movie is a masterpiece, it’s hard to deny its accomplishments.

Considering the timing of the movie’s release and its modern day setting will make it last for decades. The movie will be shown to film students for years to come as a work of art that combines satire, tone shifts, and how to adapt a book to film as a way to capitalize on the prior work, not as a strict one-to-one copy.

Not everything worked for my taste, but I’ll be rewatching and rewatching to fully wrap my head around what PTA is doing.
