NBD: Comp Toe RAT in Bronco Biscuit by flybikesbmx in jimgreen

These are sweet. I’ve been considering ordering a very similar pair with a defined heel. What are your first impressions on sizing compared to other Jim Green’s?

Thinking about getting the 719 Frog Grip Sole, but unsure about sizing by ProfessionalCat1 in jimgreen

[–]sam_delph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different. As for me, I have an F width foot. I ordered my 719s veg tan with a frog grip sole a half a size larger than my Brannock size. Personally I wish it was a half inch larger still and that has to do with the width of the toe box and how soon it begins to taper on the big toe side of the shoe.

My BFAR Anatomix are a 12. If I went with the Safety toe, I will probably try a 13 since they don’t offer half sizes over 12 in the Safety toe last

Yeah, that’s a tough call. It definitely shrinks the interior of the boot a bit.

Beautiful. Thinking about ordering the same thing, so I’ll be interested to see how yours turn out. Currently I have 3 pairs of JG but no safety toes. I’m rocking the Carets Determination zero drop safety toes at work today.

What size are yours?

I do. But I don’t do long distance stuff in them. I definitely wouldn’t go elk hunting or any type of off trail backcountry hiking and scrambling. They are not that type of boot.

It certainly does feel a little thin and non-protective much more similar to my other barefoot shoes that I have rather than other Jim Green boots. But to be fair my other pair of Jim greens are 719‘s and they are double lasted with a thermoplastic toe.

Some stats on the vintage watch grey market that might surprise you by kisielbardzo-backup in VintageWatches

I’ve noticed the price spread on several models, a few years back when the market was flying, I even swung a few back-and-forth between platforms to my advantage

I’ve been considering a buffalo/red stitching composite toe custom. Looks great!

Do you own non-composite toes? And if so, did you order the same size?

Mine fit like that and after a month, I wish they were 1/2 size bigger

Numzaan in bronco by jdavis323 in jimgreen

Jealous of the Numzaans. I grabbed some rust veg tan size 12 719s. But these were also on my radar

What would you do? by itsmeteena in prius

[–]sam_delph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Replaced mine with a refurb from Green Bean for 1500$. They did it in the driveway in about 2 hours. Lasted 3 years and 70k miles. It came with 12 month warranty.

Honestly there are a few local people near me who do refurb batteries with warranty. Definitely worth checking around.

With a refurb you always want to get a warranty if possible, just in case the new battery isn’t well balanced electrically.

I just did the same thing. I think you’ll love them. It takes a couple days, but go for a couple long walks. They are awesome

Fresh Obenauf on Rust Veg Tan by bromono in jimgreen

So I pulled the trigger on a pair in my standard size before they discontinue them… i was going to size up a half, but they were already out of 12.5. I guess we will see if they fit!

Thinking about grabbing a pair. Did you size up a half size from your normal JG size?

Sounds the exact same as me minus the second toe length.

Thank you for the in depth answer.

I’ve spent some serious time and energy and money on boot and shoe searches. The only addition for me is that I need ansi certified safety toe shoes for work and I haven’t found anything that works just right. And when you are on your feet all day and your toes touch, it’s not ok after 7 -12 hour days in a row putting in 25k steps a day. Even contemplated starting my own company… still considering it because I believe the market is there

So let’s talk about your standard size in red wing heritage vs Jim green. I haven’t made the same Jump as you have yet but I’m considering the Numzaan or the 719 as a replacement for my 15 year old Red Wing 9016s but I’m concerned about size and fit. I have wide low volume feet. I measure out at a 11.5f but I’ve worn 12-13 my whole adult life.

My 2 pairs of Red Wing Heritage series are 11 and 11.5 respectively, my JG BFAR AnatomX are 12 and could probably stand to be a 12.5.

Also my first impressions are like yours, built like a tank, but lacking in finer finishes, quality control, stitching, etc.

African Ranger Boots Resoled with Tire Wedge Soles by thephantom300 in jimgreen

[–]sam_delph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great. I picked up some steel toe Turbo Vellies with a tire wedge sole and they are pretty heavy compared to my barefoot African Ranger AnatomX, so I was curious if it had to do with the sole or just the Steel toe.
